About the role

The North American Strategy Team is a small, multi-functional group accountable for corporate strategy and financial decision support for the Diageo North American business. The group works primarily on a project basis, deploying its resources against the highest value issues and opportunities facing Diageo - principally working with senior management and leading cross functional teams. The team is closely integrated into the North American business, touching all aspects of Diageo's operations. Within this team, the purpose of the Strategy Manager role is to support the evaluation and development of strategic opportunities and projects across the North American business.

The role reports into the VP of Strategy, North America.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assist the Strategy VP & Director in partnering with senior leaders in North America to shape the strategic direction and priorities of the Diageo business, including supporting the development of the long-range strategy for the Annual Strategy Conference (ASC)
  • Work cross-functionally across the organization (within NAM and with the global Group Strategy team) to deliver and embed data-driven choices / solutions, ensuring ownership across the business
  • Develop and provide expertise on the strategic, economic, socio-demographic, geopolitical, and commercial context affecting Diageo operations. Bring an externally curious & future-focused perspective to all the work that the team delivers, challenging our customers' view of the status-quo
  • Develop analytical models and compelling presentations to support business decisions surrounding key critical initiatives
  • Support in the development of materials for the Diageo Board and external audiences (i.e. Capital Markets Day, Investor and Analyst events)


Experience / skills required
  • Minimum 3-6 years of professional experience
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Bias toward action & comfort operating independently in an environment of ambiguity
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful strategies in a complex, multi-market environment
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across different levels of the organization
  • External curiosity with deep understanding of the North American market and its socio-economic, geopolitical, and commercial landscape
  • Ownership and outcome-driven mentality
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience


Preferred Experience
  • Consulting or Investment Banking experience preferred
  • CPG/FMCG experience preferred
