About the team:
It is an extraordinary opportunity to shape the future of Diageo Caribbean and Central America (CCA). We are looking for a curious, motivated, and highly expert strategic planner who can bring sharp insight and consumer-and-shopper-centric thinking to the heart of our decision making, from development of our growth strategies to execution drivers. It will also support key projects for the business, working closely with Innovation, Customer Marketing, and Marketing teams. This role reports to the Head of Consumer & Connections Planning in CCA.
Caribbean and Central America market (CCA) is a very dynamic market with a large geographical footprint (37 countries) that operates under a distributor based RTC model. CCA office hub is in Panama, where we also host the Latin America Innovation Technology Center. CCA is a Diageo business unit that generates approximately $300m in net sales value, where Scotch category accounts for 70% of sales, predominantly playing in the Premium and Super Premium segments. Diageo share of market in Scotch varies from 45% to 75% across the region - making us the number one player.
The Role Requires
Our role as Consumer Planners in Diageo is to act as bold agents of growth who lead the business with ideas and strategies powered by insight and foresight, to shape the future of social celebration and bring value for consumers, customers and Diageo.
Our function is rooted in a Planning philosophy and mentality and goes well beyond functional research delivery.
This role requires:
- Inspiring leadership and effective influencing skills across a diverse collaborator group, leading to genuine impact on delivering our ambition.
- Proactive fueling the business with consumer/ shopper led provocations and implications to drive penetration grow
- Integrative Thinking to synthesizes data and understanding from multiple sources in few core messages in an actionable way
- Be externally diligent - to culture, trends & marketplace dynamics, to detect the factors that could positively or negatively impact growth
- Prioritization
Top 5 Accountabilities:
- Own the planning agenda, partnering with the brand and customer marketing teams on the development of category strategy, portfolio strategy, learning plans, creative development, and marketing business plans.
- Proactively defines and communicates opportunities for growth for the market, categories, and brands and articulates what it will take to realize these opportunities.
- Effectively influences the business to make the right consumer/shopper led strategic and commercially savvy decisions.
- Champion continuous optimization, ensuring that measurement & evaluation is integrated into learning plans and regularly applied to drive growth and increase productivity of our A&P spend.
- Effective management of research & planning budgets.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- +6 years of Strategic Planning experience and/or Market & Consumer Research in FMCG, either at agency or client side
- Strong communication (including storytelling) and influencing skills across senior levels.
- Externally diligent (customers, competitors, economics, business trends) to ensure the plans reflect opportunities and issues
- Well-versed in fundamentals of qualitative & quantitative research (choosing methodologies, designing projects, interpreting observations and data, reporting with clarity and flair)
- Strong Analytical Skills and confirmed ability to distill multiple set of data to uncover insights and turning them into actionable business recommendations.
- Comfortable working in areas of ambiguity even in the absence of high levels of data
- Truly collaborative, a critical great teammate but an objective voice of reason
- Commercial savvy and creative; while intellectually rigorous in the thinking - super knowledgable both the art and the science of Planning.
- English Proficiency level.
This role is based in Panama.
