Job Title

Firmware Engineer

Job Summary

The successful candidate will perform selected embedded firmware engineering development and maintenance tasks for company products and systems. Collaboration with a global team and developing innovative new technologies and products.

This is What You Will do in This Role:
  • Design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware for products used for material flow and material management automation systems for projects.
  • Responsible for solving specific firmware design problems with little outside direction.
  • Responsible for the completion of total embedded firmware design, coding, and testing for products for intended to be released and used in industrial material handling systems.
  • Completes firmware documentation in accordance with Company requirements in association with the Technical Publications department.
  • Participates in the preparation of technical proposals.
  • Assists with the preparation and presentation of technical and user training for customers.
  • Travels to the customer site to support firmware issues or upgrades.
  • Complies with customer or Company procedures for software quality assurance, software configuration control and ISO 9000.
  • Adheres to Company rules as they apply to Development Engineering.
  • Define, develop, and implement firmware validation test plans and test content with deep comprehension of firmware algorithms and customer specifications.
  • Participate in and role model an Agile/Kanban development culture which emphasizes product quality, team accountability, and continuous improvement.
What We are Looking For:

Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Computer science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering (preferred) and/or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of design patterns for object-oriented programming. Knowledge in C, C++, Visual C, MS Windows (10), desirable C# and Phyton.
  • Five or more years of experience in: All phases of Embedded firmware development in platform independent environments, User interface programming experience, General programming skills, Advanced engineering principles and concept design
  • Proficiency in English, advanced writing and spoken.
  • Availability to international travel 50% of the time.
Preferred qualifications
  • Familiarity with storage, retrieval, and material handling systems a plus
  • FPGA experience a plus
  • Allen Bradley / Siemens PLC experience and communication protocols as CAN / Profibus / Ethernet IP / Profinet / ASi fieldbus experience a plus.
  • Motor Control experience a plus
  • Scripting languages for test automation (Perl, Python or similar) a plus
