We are seeking a Senior UI Software Engineer to help build our Next Gen Applications Suite. This role is ideal for a highly capable front-end engineer who thrives in designing and building scalable, modern web applications from the ground up. You will be responsible for establishing front-end architecture, delivering exceptional user experiences, and contributing across the full development lifecycle—from ideation to production support.
You'll work within a high-performing, cross-functional team to deliver innovative solutions to complex business challenges, following engineering principles and practices modeled after leading technology companies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performing front-end applications using React.js, Node.js, and modern JavaScript libraries.
- Establish and evolve baseline front-end architecture and frameworks for new applications.
- Translate business and user requirements into intuitive, responsive, and visually appealing interfaces.
- Apply design thinking and UX principles to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using high- and low-fidelity concepts.
- Write production-ready code with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Ensure high-quality software through automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment practices.
- Produce clear, concise, and maintainable technical documentation.
- Participate in architectural design, system analysis, and code reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize requirements.
- Instrument performance monitoring, alerting, and KPI tracking for applications.
- Assess the impact of product upgrades and infrastructure changes.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in front-end development.
- Proven experience building robust web applications using React.js, Node.js, and modern JavaScript libraries.
- Experience setting up and maintaining scalable front-end frameworks from scratch.
- Strong understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
- Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch) and ability to apply design principles effectively.
- Experience developing and deploying applications on Azure or similar cloud platforms.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
- Passion for continuous learning and process improvement.
Nice to Have:
- Experience introducing development standards or best practices within a team or organization.
- Familiarity with the Azure API Developer Portal framework.
- Exposure to backend development and RESTful API design.
- Experience with performance monitoring and DevOps tooling.
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 22. $92,500 - $200,400
