Manager, Application Development and Platform Engineering - CIAM

(This is a hybrid role that requires working onsite at our Oakland, CA or San Francisco, CA office 1–2 days per week)
The Manager of Application Development and Platform Engineering (Customer Identity Access Management) will be responsible for facilitating and directing the design and development of experience features and services as they relate to customers, internal developers and third parties. Defining and driving the experience will be largely dependent on the approved initiative. The leader in this position will provide both tactical and strategic direction for the team in collaboration with Platform Engineering peers.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the recruitment, evaluation, motivation, development and performance of team members
- Adhere and contribute to the policies, procedures and standards of Delta Dental best practices
- Design and oversee deliverables including but not limited to the completion of scope and objectives; development of roadmaps, project plans and budgets; architecture design reviews, quality assurance and deployment for all assigned initiatives
- Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging solution and technology re-use
- Review, manage, and resolve complex problems involving one or more teams, systems or functions
- Contribute and oversea the development of high-quality designs and code
- Influence decision making in functional and technical designs through active partnership with cross-functional teams
- Provide ongoing education to the team to ensure awareness and proactive modernization of technologies
- Provide leadership and documentation in support of enterprise adoption
- Define and monitor metrics to improve overall experience across assigned solution space
- Promote innovation and empower teams to achieve high performance

Qualifications:
- 9+ years w/Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline; 5+ years engineering leadership experience
- Experience in application architecture, modern cloud technologies, authentication systems, security and user experience
- Experience developing and testing high-performing platform services
- Experience developing and deploying services on top of modern cloud services; preferably Azure
- Experience configuring and supporting modern CIAM applications and services; preferably Okta
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and container orchestration
- Partner with application and infrastructure teams to design, build and deploy new technologies and services with a strong focus on performance, reliability and security
- Strong communication skills with a high priority on listening to others
- Ability to practice empathy and build trust amongst the team
- Ability to research and maintain current and emerging technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology
- Experience in preparing IT plans, technology roadmaps and technical project proposals
- Ability to analyze business requirements and recommend the right solutions in a timely fashion
- Demonstrated use of ingenuity and creativity by taking actions to direct the analyses and solutions of problems
- Knowledge of systems development life cycle, including the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple initiatives and deliverables utilizing SAFe Agile, SCRUM or other appropriate development methodologies.
- Ability to recruit, retain and develop a team
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 24. $122,400 - $265,100
