TITLE: Expert Software Engineer

Location: 1130 Sanctuary Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30009; Telecommuting permissible from anywhere in the US.

Salary Range: $160,000 - $165,000/year

Responsibilities:

  • Help build the Next Gen Applications Suite.
  • Perform as a key contributor to an engineering team that builds and supports exceptional products that provide innovative solutions to challenging business use cases, existing systems, and operational problems.
  • Participate in architectural design, system analysis, and programming activities on application software; this may often require independent research and study.
  • Develop high-quality and production-ready software by using best-practice data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and frameworks that are maintainable, scalable, responsive, and secure.
  • Write highest quality code with utmost attention to scalability, security, and performance and with an end-to-end mindset from conception to delivery and production support, owning specifications, quality, release deployments, and monitoring of production health.
  • Produce complete, simple, and readable technical documentation for everything developed and maintain a team culture of documenting everything.
  • Test and ensure quality of all code that is developed in line with principles of test-driven development and continuous delivery, utilizing test automation frameworks wherever possible.
  • Participate in code-reviews, provide technical guidance and mentor software engineers. Collaborate closely with engineering leadership, Product Managers, Designers, Test Automation, and other teams and business units to define, prioritize, sequence, and scope business and functional requirements and drive results.
  • Instrument infrastructure and application performance monitoring, capacity management, alerting, tools instrumentation and metrics (KPI) management.
  • Telecommuting permissible from anywhere in the US.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science or a related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Java programming query language (JPQL) and the Spring Framework: inversion of control (Spring Core), data persistence/interactivity with Spring ORM (object relational mapping), and Spring MVC (model-view-controller)
  • Demonstrated proficiency of implementing Java applications to interact with MySQL or Oracle RBDMS (relational database management systems) for storage and persistence of data
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a cloud provider such as Amazon Web Services or MS Azure for processing, storage, and/or other platform as a service(PaaS) or software as a service (SaaS) capabilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with analysis and implementation of service APIs (application programming interface) and web services (SOAP and REST architecture styles)

    The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
    Pay Grade 23. $160,000-$165,000
