Director Accounts Receivable

The Director Accounts Receivable will be responsible for directing the accounts receivable, group profit and loss and producer compensation functions, enterprise-wide, to ensure that the division mission and goals contribute to the accomplishment of corporate goals and objectives. This role supports executive management and enterprise-wide initiatives, establishes relationships with key clients, and maintains a positive working relationship with internal customers such as Operations and Account Services. The incumbent ensures department operations are cost-effective and that customer demands are met as efficiently as possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees department functions to ensure work is completed in a timely and accurate manner as defined in division goals.
  • Ensures production of the accounts receivable, group reporting and producer compensation functions are complete, accurate, and that quality assurance processes are followed.
  • Interviews, selects, evaluates, and rewards the performance of all direct reports. Promotes a constructive work environment; organizes staff into teams to accomplish work, ensures timely collections of premium revenues, meets customer demands and encourages initiative and risk taking. Ensures staff receives on-going training and works with the division trainer to develop written training materials and procedures.
  • Develops annual department and project budgets; identifies variances and takes corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Contributes to and manages Enterprise initiatives and transitions as needed in support of overall project needs. Represents the division in inter-divisional meetings and projects and Enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Elevates issues that potentially impact other divisions as appropriate; communicates policy decisions to staff in the division and works with them to adhere to standard operating policies and achieve goals.
  • Develops strong communications and working relationships with key clients. Meets with account managers, account executives and teams on a regular basis for the purpose of workload planning and issue resolution. Communicates with groups and brokers to resolve issues and concerns on an exception basis.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of related experience including 3+ years of experience managing teams.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field. Candidates with proven experience will not be excluded from consideration.
  • Detail oriented with problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational/time management and project management skills and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to build and manage a strong, effective team.
  • Knowledge and experience with systems development projects, and major eligibility, group and financial systems.
  • Knowledge of Delta Dental products, policies, claims, eligibility and underwriting guidelines.
  • Extensive knowledge of health benefits business, and enrollment and billing and customer service in the health care industry.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $133,300 - $260,000
