How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The Co-Op Flight Safety Investigations responsibilities include providing support to the Flight Safety Accident/Incident Investigation Team, Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA), and Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP). The data collected through these programs supports Delta's Safety Management System (SMS), which is a cornerstone of Delta's proactive accident and incident prevention system to track, trend and resolve aviation hazards. This position will include exposure to the full investigative process, in which a successful candidate will be responsible for collecting factual data, such as damage data, injury information, meteorological conditions, crew background, human performance data, flight recorder data, and other relevant investigative data.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

• Must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic institution throughout the co-op program

• At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale

• Must be available to work on a full-time basis as an undergraduate student during the following 3 alternating semesters: Fall 2024, Summer 2025, Spring 2026

• Must be able to work onsite in our Atlanta, GA office for the duration of the co-op rotations

• Candidate is team-oriented and highly supportive of continuous improvement methodologies

• Strong organizational, project management, problem solving skills, and verbal/written communication skills are essential

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Willingness/ability to learn new skills is required

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • The degree should include a specialization in aviation.
  • Flight experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Excel, Project, Visio, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • A successful candidate should be highly motivated with the desire to learn and have a passion for safety.
