Position Summary
Our Deloitte Strategy & Transactions team helps guide clients through their most critical moments and transformational initiatives. From strategy to execution, this team delivers integrated, end-to-end support and advisory services covering valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, government operations modernization, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sustainability. Work alongside clients every step of the way, helping them navigate new challenges, avoid financial pitfalls, and provide practical solutions at every stage of their journey-before, during, and after any major transformational projects or transactions.
Work You'll Do
Serve as the Technical Utility Subject Matter Expert for the client. The practitioner will be responsible for leading several key taskings and overseeing junior personnel in the execution of those taskings. They will also support programmatic and contract management activities as needed.
The Technical Utility SME will be responsible for providing a range of expertise as it relates to Grid Systems and Components, Grid Controls and Communication, and Energy Storage for the Grid as follows:
• Applies subject expertise in evaluating business operations, processes, and technical issues
• Consults across business operations, providing mentorship, and contributing specialized knowledge
• Recommends technical solutions and identifies areas where technical solutions would improve business performance
• Provides subject expertise and guidance to senior leadership
• Reviews and ensures accurate representation of expertise prior to the distribution of technical reports
• Obtains and maintains a security clearance, as required (this is not required at this time, but may be in the future.)

Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in power systems or electrical engineer, economics, mathematics, or other relevant engineering STEM field
• 10+ years of experience working with electric utilities on matters related to electricity delivery system and the next-generation grid technologies, from grid edge, distribution, transmission, and micro-grid technologies, tools and technique
• Experience with energy storage and integration of renewable energy resources.
• Familiarity with power systems planning and modeling software (PowerFactory, PLEXOS, Hitachi PROMOD, PSS/E)
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required clearance for this role
• Ability to travel 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred:
• Master's degree in related field
• Deep understanding of the power system engineering, planning, and operations for electricity delivery system, transmission and distribution, grid equipment manufacturing and labor, and energy policy and markets
• Deep experience with system modeling and planning, grid planning and management methodologies, key tenets of grid operations, and technologies for secure operations of the power systems
• Knowledge of Regional Transmission Operator/Independent System Operator market rules, business practices, and stakeholder procedures related to adoption, deployment, or valuation of new/emerging technologies
• Demonstrated ability to succinctly and cogently brief senior leaders on key electricity and grid issues in writing and verbally
• Knowledge of Institute of Electrical, Electronics Engineers and International Electrotechnical Commission and other standards related to data, sensing, controls, etc. and the industry standards development process in the U.S
