Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in New York, New York.
Work You'll Do
Responsible for supporting holders of debt investments including financial institutions, hedge funds, private equity firms, insurance companies, and real estate investment trusts manage all aspects of tax information reporting, tax compliance, and tax planning for their debt portfolios. Work with client personnel to develop processes to gather, verify, transmit, and store debt portfolio data. Calculate tax amounts of original issue discount (OID), market discount, premium, taxable gain, basis, and other items. Utilize tax research tools including LexisNexis, Thompson Reuters, Tax Notes, BNA, and CCH to develop and confirm positions on areas including interest nonaccrual, cost recovery, and bad debts. Develop tax project and data management tools using Alteryx, VBA, C++, Access, and SQL. Coordinate teams organized to provide clients with workable solutions to their tax accounting and information reporting needs. Contribute to practice optimization, eminence, and people development. Support pursuit of new client opportunities among holders of loan, bond, MBS, and ABS securities. Complete complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries. Research and analyze tax issues related to business transactions and the tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Will commute within the New York, NY area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.

Requirements
Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field (willing to accept foreign equivalent) plus eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior, or related occupation, providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
Experience must include eighteen months of:
- calculating taxable income and tax basis for clients with a focus on Partnership returns;
- performing tax regulation research and reviewing client data to determine appropriate tax treatments;
- utilizing tax research tools, including S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and CCH to analyze tax issues related to business transactions and tax implications for a variety of entities and their affiliates;
- working with fixed income security tools including S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, and Refinitiv;
- coordinating review notes from internal managers and applying changes to deliverables and processes;
- preparing income tax provisions to analyze and disclose the income tax position in 10K and 10Q;
- evaluating internal control risk by communicating with clients and documenting procedures in tax technical memos; and
- mentoring and coaching junior team members.
Less than 10% domestic travel required outside of normal commuting distance.

Annual Salary: $81,620.00 - $151,580.00
