Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Los Angeles, California.

Work You'll Do
Help clients develop tax-aligned compensation and benefits programs that address their global and domestic needs. Work with clients to streamline their programs while managing tax effectiveness, risks, and costs. Assist clients with developing the strategies, processes, and technologies that affect their staff and operations on a worldwide scale. Responsible for managing internal resources and works directly with clients to provide expatriate and foreign-national tax compliance and consulting services to multi-national clients. Review individual income tax returns, conduct US tax law research, manage tax consulting projects, and assist in the administration of company tax programs. Utilize knowledge in expatriate and foreign national tax compliance, tax equalization policy implementation/consulting, and management of international assignee populations of multi-national clients. Utilize experience with the individual income tax issues and tax law including foreign national and expatriate issues, foreign tax compliance and the tax equalization process. Responsible for consulting regarding executive compensation arrangements, international income tax issues, and reporting and disclosure rules.

Will commute within the Los Angeles, CA metropolitan area to consult with clients regarding the above job duties.

Requirements
Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience in expatriate and foreign national tax compliance and equalization policy implementation.

Experience must include eighteen months of:
  1. conducting benchmarking of mobility program benefits data to assist with clients' global and domestic mobility program designs or re-designs at a country or global level;
  2. analyzing clients' demographic and cost data to identify trends and potential inefficiencies using Excel working with HR and business leaders to align clients' mobility programs to their priorities and talent development goals using analytical tools;
  3. documenting processes concerning clients' mobile assignee programs, specifically related to service initiations, tax compliance, compensation, and social security services creating client proposals and determining pricing;
  4. conducting employment tax research for technical memos using research tools, including CCH and BNA providing payroll calculation and global compensation management for clients;
  5. advising on individual income tax issues pertaining to expatriates and foreign nationals, tax compliance in jurisdictions outside of the U.S., and the tax equalization process, and applying taxation concepts to social security implications associated with international assignments;
  6. preparing assignment cost analysis, advising on home and host country tax implications, coordinating with relocation vendors and local payroll, assessing clients' stock option plans and the impact on U.S. payroll reporting, and conducting pre-departure orientation and repatriation meetings with clients from a U.S. tax perspective;
  7. utilizing tax research tools, including BNA and CCH, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to global business travelers;
  8. utilizing tax software, including CCH Axcess, PayBreeze, and BNA, to compute taxes, conduct research and integrate with internal tracking tools;
  9. mentoring junior staff and interns and collaborating with both on and offshore teams on the compliance process workflow; and
  10. assisting with project financials and billing processes for engagements.

Less than 10% domestic travel outside normal commuting distance

Hours: M-F, 40 hours/week;
Annual Salary: $85,680.00 - $159,120.00
