Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Tempe, Arizona.

Work You'll Do
Assist companies with federal, state and local, and international tax structures and align the tax function with business objectives. Assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis, work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and identify and mitigate risk areas. Under the supervision of Tax Managers, oversee tax consulting projects for clients in diverse industries. Research and analyze a wide range of tax issues encountered on engagements. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for our federal clients and assist with the supervision of assignments. Assist with tax planning opportunity identification, implementing tax planning projects, providing tax research and analysis for clients in diverse industries, and keeping up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues. Develop a working knowledge of the client's business and tax systems, take responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas, meeting client deadlines, and contribute to the successful completion of projects. Actively participate in engagement planning, management, and decision-making. Perform review of business and individual tax returns and tax return workpapers, as well as tax provisions prepared by tax consultants and interns, serve as a technical resource to them, as well as supervise them and define expectations and performance indicators for them. Will commute within the Tempe, Arizona area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent)
  • Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
  • Position requires eighteen (18) months of experience in the following:
  • preparing federal and state/local income tax returns for Corporations, partnerships and high-net-worth individuals, including Form 1120, Form 1120-REIT, Form 1065 and Schedule K-1, and Form 1040;
  • utilizing tax software, including GoSystem, to prepare federal, state, and local, and calculate estimated tax and process filings utilizing tax research tools, including BNA, and CCH to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients and researching tax law and updates and respond to federal and state tax authorities;
  • applying Subchapter C and K and identifying technical issues for investment management and real estate-related funds, including basis, transfer of property, and terminations;
  • analyzing partnership agreements with respect to investment management fund, real estate funds, and operating companies to calculate partnership allocations;
  • preparing quarterly and annual REIT tests for real estate investment trusts;
  • preparing and reviewing partnership taxable income allocation reports, and calculating and reviewing target capital accounts, waterfall, preferred return, and promote interest allocations;
  • preparing state quarterly estimated tax payments for high-net-worth individuals and preparing schedules for federal and state income tax returns and state franchise tax;
  • interacting with clients on tax consulting projects, including international tax planning and research &development credit utilization, and assisting in performing cash flow planning for trusts and family office structures;
  • assisting with preparing ASC740 income tax provisions and participating in audits of ASC740 income tax provisions for C-Corporations;
  • mentoring and coaching junior team members.
  • Less than 10% domestic travel required outside of normal commuting distance.

Hours: M-F, 40 hours/week;
