Strategic Cost Transformation Consultant
Our Deloitte Strategy & Transactions team helps guide clients through their most critical moments and transformational initiatives. We offer comprehensive end-to-end support and advisory services, covering areas such as valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sustainability. The team works closely with clients at every stage of their journey, helping them navigate challenges, avoid financial pitfalls, and implement practical solutions before, during, and after major transformational projects or transactions creating lasting impact.

Work You'll Do
Consultants in strategic cost transformation serve as a trusted advisor to corporate and private equity clients. Consultants synthesize overall strategy by analyzing a wide variety of solutions, selecting the most relevant tools/techniques to meet specific client requirements such as business case, pricing, or complex financial analysis, and interpreting and reporting on outputs. Consultants also:
- Function as integrators between business needs and technology solutions
- Work with senior executives to develop, define and execute cost/growth reduction strategies with Fortune 500 companies
- Gain exposure to multiple industries while demonstrating an awareness of the full breadth of services offered by Deloitte
- Perform accurate analysis and effective diagnosis of client issues and manage day-to-day client relationships at peer client levels
- Develop and present deliverables that articulate strategic recommendations and/or other relevant findings
- Assist in proposal development, as requested
The Team
Our Performance Improvement & Restructuring (PI&R) practice develops and leads enterprise-level Board and C-suite agendas for clients across the performance spectrum-healthy, underperforming, and distressed-to enhance margins, address financial challenges, and optimize cash flow in support of critical transformation initiatives.
As part of the PI&R offering, strategic cost transformation focuses on structural, enterprise-wide changes that can produce sustainable cost savings and margin improvements, helping our clients to build scalable cost platforms that drive profitable growth. The team advises and provides hands-on implementation support to drive immediate cost reductions to bolster liquidity or to apply disruptive cost techniques that set the stage for a business to thrive. The team also provides support in capturing savings to stabilize a business, improving the cost base to free up funds or avert cuts that might inhibit growth, establishing a scalable cost platform to fuel growth, and drive disruptive automation and other cost optimization goals. Strategic cost transformation provides in-depth cash and working capital analysis and actions to improve cash flow and enhance profits for our clients.
Qualifications
Required:
- 2+ years of experience in management consulting in operations improvement, transformation, M&A integration, or business process reengineering around global cost reduction or development of global growth strategies
- 2+ years of experience in financial analysis and working with data inputs from multiple sources, to understand value creation opportunities
- 2+ years of experience developing models using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visual Basic, or other tools (Tableau)
- 1+ years of experience with exposure to M&A or M&A service delivery experience, or other M&A-related experiences
- Bachelor's degree and 2+ years consulting and/or industry experience.
- Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Preferred:
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)
- Strong analysis skills (Excel required with other analytics capabilities preferred)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments in a collaborative environment
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
- Eagerness to mentor junior staff
- An advanced degree

This compensation range is specific to Colorado and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $93,225 to $155,375.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
