Our Deloitte Strategy & Transactions team helps guide clients through their most critical moments and transformational initiatives. We offer comprehensive end-to-end support and advisory services, covering areas such as valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sustainability. The team works closely with clients at every stage of their journey, helping them navigate challenges, avoid financial pitfalls, and implement practical solutions before, during, and after major transformational projects or transactions creating lasting impact.

M&A Information Technology (IT) Integration & Divestiture (I&D) is part of Deloitte's M&A Offering, within our broader Strategy & Transactions practice. Our specialists guide deal execution by aligning IT integration or divestiture strategies, Day 1 plans, and future-state goals to maximize value in complex market situations. This Specialist Leader role is ideal for M&A IT professionals who are experts in Life Sciences and Healthcare (LSHC) space... and could be the spot for you!

Work You'll Do

Specialist Leaders in M&A IT have deep expertise in particular areas of IT, working in client-facing Deloitte teams. Our Specialist Leaders identify our LSHC client's organization's needs, define the business or technology architecture, plan how projects will be delivered, oversee the solution design and implementation, manage the progress of the team and activities, and confirm work products meet our firm's and the client's quality standards. Our practitioners perform business process analysis, mapping, and design for M&A projects focused on an IT workstream including IT infrastructure separation, data center migration, application integration/separation/rationalization, or IT synergies/cost reduction. As part of the M&A IT team, Specialist Leaders lead large, complex engagements that identify, design, and administer creative business and technology solutions. Additionally, Specialist Leaders are expected to mentor/coach staff, contribute to sales activities, and develop eminence through writing papers and/or presenting at conferences. Specialist Leaders are expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways including but not limited to the below:

  • Client Service: Advise clients on leading practices and technology/industry trends, business process/operating model/application/integration architecture, solution design, and implementation leading practices related to their specialty.
  • Delivery: Bring industry/ functional/ technical experience and knowledge to deliver solutions which allow clients to achieve their business strategy. Leverage M&A methods, tools and processes and adapt to specialty to make more impactful.
  • Business Development: Contributes to sales efforts in areas related to his or her specialization.
  • People Development: Coaches, mentors, and develops practitioners, with emphasis on his or her area of specialty.
  • Eminence: Contribute to go-to-market and internal initiatives which drive growth of the practice, drive efficiency and profitability, improve quality, and increase the knowledge of our staff.

Our M&A team offers expert guidance to corporate and private equity clients in navigating complex growth and divestiture scenarios. Our services encompass M&A strategy and transaction diligence, integration and separation planning and execution, as well as transaction financing.

Deloitte's M&A IT LSHC professionals provide broad M&A services delivered in an integrated approach across health plan, health care provider, health tech, and life sciences sectors. The team provides subject matter knowledge across critical components of IT (e.g., infrastructure, applications, IT operations, IT finances and expenses, Active Directory, end-user computing, messaging, enterprise architecture, testing). Deloitte helps players within the LSHC industry leverage mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring as a means to spur growth, improve care, shrink costs, and strengthen their competitive positions and shape the new health economy and the roles they play within it with Deloitte's deep resources, industry knowledge, and global capabilities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A candidate must have 8+ years of M&A IT or M&A IT service delivery experience in the Life Sciences & Healthcare industries in the following areas:
    • Setting, leading and delivering engagement objectives and scope
    • Developing work plans for components of engagements, coordinating activities between work streams and identifying changes in scope
    • Designing deliverable content to precisely reflect the engagement contract and client needs
    • Managing cross-functional teams to deliver M&A engagements across all of phases of the M&A lifecycle including due-diligence, pre-close, and post-merger integration
    • Providing corporate and private equity buyers with a broad continuum of advisory integration and divestiture program management services to support mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, investment and financing structures, disposition alternatives and post-transaction activities
    • Partnering with senior executives to define how they employ M&A - in alignment with their corporate strategy - to drive profitable growth and enable them to compete effectively in their industry
    • Providing industry insight and analytical support using data mining, pattern matching, data visualization, and predictive modelling tools to produce analysis and algorithms that enables pre-deal and post-deal integration, divestiture, and major restructuring/cost transformation activities to achieve/exceed deal value, synergy targets, or strategic cost takeout objectives
    • Business Development by developing and maintaining contact with top decision makers at key clients, as well as leading and delivering aspects of the proposal development process, contributing to the development of proposal pricing strategies
    • Identifying and developing add-on sales opportunities
    • Integration, divestiture and/or joint venture standup execution
  • 8+ years of experience in one area of Information Technology providing depth in that area
  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years consulting and/or industry experience; alternatively, an MBA with 6+ years relevant work experience
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred:

  • Recent experience working in a professional services consulting firm
  • Knowledge of Cloud Migration/Standup is a plus
  • Ability to work independently; lead small teams focused on specific work streams of larger projects
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Ability to apply practical experience with communications, culture, and change management
  • Ability to perform analysis and synthesize data into useful insights
  • Eagerness to mentor junior staff
  • An advanced degree
