Work you'll do

The Human Centered Design Lead will work in multi-stakeholder environment to gather design needs, create user centered design prototypes and guide development team. You will support a state-wide integrated eligibility determination, benefit computation, benefit delivery, case management and information management system.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform usability and business process analysis for as-is state of the system and develop roadmap for improving end-user experience
  • Work with business and policy stakeholders to gather design expectations for system improvements
  • Communicate outcomes of the client sessions
  • Responsible for translating the collected design requirements and proposing design options
  • Follow UI/UX and Human Centered Design principles
  • Organize customer labs and usability testing sessions to gather feedback
  • Provide clarification to technical team regarding the proposed design and intended outcomes as needed

The GPS Human Services Transformation offering designs and implements large, complex systems development and transformation projects to Human Service agencies across federal, state, and local government agencies as well as higher education institutions. With end-users, customers, and workers at the center, we collaborate with our clients to deliver quality human services and work to support individuals in need. Some areas that we focus on include Children Services, Eligibility & Enrollment, Child Support Enforcement, and Labor & Workforce Development.

This role is located in Sacramento, CA.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 6+ years designer experience with a strong portfolio showcasing design skills
  • 3+ years of experience in facilitating requirements and design sessions
  • 2+ years of experience with design tools (such as Figma) to include: performing app design, wireframing, diagramming/workflow for the application improvements
  • 2+ years of experience as a Human Centered Design lead on an Integrated Eligibility project with the knowledge on State and Federal programs like SNAP, TANF, Medicaid etc.
  • 1+ year experience working with government institutions
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Preferred:

  • Excellent customer service and team interaction skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in an agile development environment
  • Knowledge of user-centered design principles and usability best practices
  • Knowledge of county operations, social policy, social welfare administration, and/or casework highly preferred
  • Strong leadership skills to manage direct reports and to champion the user perspective

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $107,925 to $179,875.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
