GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Epic Certification in Professional Billing and/or Cadence/Prelude is required for this role. While we would prefer candidates with experience in both areas, we are open to applicants with certification in one of these specialties.
Certified Principal Trainer designation is essential, with at least 2 years of experience as a certified principal trainer in an Epic environment.
Under the direction of the CKD EHR Training Manager, the Principal Trainer is responsible for leading all aspects of training planning, design, development, and implementation for designated applications within the EHR program. This role involves collaborating with business leaders, application analyst teams, subject matter experts (SMEs), key stakeholders, and other learning professionals to create innovative learning solutions that utilize a variety of learning modalities to enhance learner experience and effectiveness. Principal Trainer will manage the creation, testing, and maintenance of training environments and customize training materials as needed. Additionally, this position provides consultation on adult learning principles and support during go-live events to ensure successful transitions to new systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Development and Collaboration
- Design and develop comprehensive training curricula for designated applications, applying significant judgement to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead the planning, design, and implementation of training programs, utilizing significant discretion and best practices in instructional design to meet diverse stakeholder needs.
- Formulate effective training strategies for designated applications and projects, demonstrating supervisory and discretionary aspects to enhance user engagement and knowledge retention.
- Identify and establish training requirements for Super Users and end-users, including proficiency assessments and ongoing support as necessary, using sound judgment to tailor solutions.
- Serve as a key liaison between end-users and the Epic build team, exercising discretion to facilitate communication and improve training processes and user experience
- Develop learning experiences, including instructor-led training (ILT) and virtual instructor-led training (VILT), by applying significant judgment in designing content that meets user needs.
- Build, test, and maintain the training environment, ensuring it is functional and conducive to effective learning experiences.
- Create and maintain highly organized functional specification documents for the training environments, validating their content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Onboarding trainers, supplemental staff, and internal teammates.
- Collaborating with and providing direction to internal staff associated with application and programs to ensure outstanding content creation, deployment, and delivery. (eLearning, web-based training, video, demonstrations, tip sheets, and blended learning).
- Assisting with maintaining a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Designing the course offerings and course catalog in the LMS, and creating an efficient method for self-paced trainings.
- Conducting classroom, one-on-one, and virtual training as needed
- Providing consultation on best practices for creating learning experiences and leveraging common standards and templates.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- Bachelor's Degree or a combination of education and/or progressively responsible work experience in related area may be substituted in lieu of degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Consultative experience working with physician practices
- Experience leading large teams and/or complex projects
- 2+ years of prior Epic training, instructional design and content creation experience
- Capacity to manage multiple competing objectives and to clearly communicate results
- Ability to lead others and to communicate the importance of training to all stakeholders
- Experience with project management, adult education, and curriculum delivery
- Strong organizational and coordination skills; ability to sequence activities logically
- Ability to develop and adhere to time schedules in order to meet project deadlines
- Healthcare IT experience
- Epic Principal Trainer Curriculum Certification
- Epic Application Certification
Travel: 10-30%, a minimum of 4 trips per year
Nights/Weekends: Occasional evening meetings

The Wage Range for the role is $36.00 - $53.00 per hour.
If a candidate is hired, they will be paid at least the minimum wage according to their geographical jurisdiction and the exemption status for the position.
New York Exempt: New York City and Long Island: $64,350.00/year, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties: $64,350.00/year, Remainder of New York state: $60,405.80/year New York Non-exempt: New York City and Long Island: $16.50/hour, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties: $16.50/hour, Remainder of New York state: $15.50/hour
Washington Exempt: $77,968.80/year Washington Non-exempt: Bellingham: $17.66/hour, Burien: $21.16/hour, Unincorporated King County: $20.29/hour, Renton: $20.90/hour, Seattle: $20.76/hour, Tukwila: $21.10/hour, Remainder of Washington state: $16.66/hour
