Position Summary:

The Organic Social Media Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping and amplifying DaVita's core messages to distinct audiences across organic social media. This individual will be responsible for sourcing, writing, and deploying compelling, narrative-shaping content across Meta (Facebook, Instagram), X, LinkedIn, YouTube and other relevant emerging social platforms over time. Working in close coordination with our communications department and editorial committee stakeholders, the Social Media Specialist will translate strategic content pillars into engaging social media narratives designed to inform, influence, and connect with diverse audiences including physicians, policymakers, payors, and our patient population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Content Sourcing & Curation:
    • In conjunction with the social media manager and communications team, adapt enterprise content (e.g., patient stories, clinical insights, policy, company successes) to amplify core messages across platforms and audiences, aligning with strategic pillars.
    • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging conversations within the kidney health landscape to inform content strategy.
    • Participation as a key member of our weekly editorial meetings to source relevant content and stay abreast of high-priority topics, announcements, and narrative objectives with the objective of adapting content into social ready content.
  • Content Writing & Development:
    • Develop compelling narratives that resonate with specific audience segments (e.g., clinical language for physicians, advocacy-focused messaging for policymakers, empathetic and empowering content for patients).
    • Adapt long-form (non-native social) editorial content by converting it into social ready copy and messaging while retaining the core message and content sentiment.
    • Align various topical content to the right audience and social channel based on content strategy.
    • Makes use of compelling visuals to support post copy by creating visuals in Canva or coordinates with internal graphic design team to produce.
  • Content Management, Scheduling, and Posting
    • Maintain and update a comprehensive, multi-channel social media content calendar, ensuring timely and strategic content deployment.
    • Plan and execute all social media content scheduling and publishing through Hootsuite across designated platforms.
    • Post content natively within social media platforms when needed and appropriate.
  • Ambassador Program Activation
    • Utilize Hootsuite Amplify to curate and make available engaging content specifically for the social media ambassador program participants to share.
    • Craft strategy to engage program participants to encourage sharing of content through ambassador program
    • Provide training and tips to newly added participants
  • Narrative Shaping & Advocacy:
    • Translate complex healthcare information and company positions into accessible and impactful social media narratives.
    • Contribute to the strategic development of campaigns that aim to influence public opinion, policy discussions, and professional perspectives on kidney health.
    • Identify opportunities for real-time engagement around trending topics or breaking news to further our position on key topics and topical themes.
  • Audience Engagement & Community Management:
    • Monitor comments, mentions, and messages, escalating inquiries or potential issues to the appropriate internal teams.
    • Leverage online monitoring tools to identify brand-impacting conversations.
    • Provide competitive insights and intel via social listening.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting Support:
    • Assist in tracking key social media metrics (e.g., reach, engagement, click-through rates, sentiment).
    • Contribute to regular performance reports, providing insights into content effectiveness and audience reception.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Maintain a strong, collaborative relationship with peers and stakeholders in the communications department to ensure content alignment and strategic message delivery.
    • Work cross-functionally with other internal teams (e.g., Clinical, Physician, and Patient Advocacy) to gather information and validate content.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience managing social media for a corporate brand, preferably within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industries.
  • Proven ability to write compelling, concise, and accurate content for diverse social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube).
  • Demonstrated experience in "narrative shaping" and translating complex information into understandable and impactful social media messaging.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting, with the ability to interpret data to inform content strategy.
  • Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with, or marketing to, healthcare professionals, policymakers, or payors.
  • Understanding of healthcare compliance and regulatory considerations (e.g., HIPAA, FDA regulations regarding promotional materials).
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) for creating simple social media visuals.
  • Experience with video editing solutions for short-form social content.
  • Passion for public health and improving patient outcomes.
