Staff Product Designer - APM Enablement
We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer with a passion for building technical tools. You’ll be working on the Datadog Application Performance Monitoring (APM) product enablement experience, designing experiences for users to instrument and maintain their set-up and configurations to make the most out of APM tools. As one of the three pillars of observability, APM is one of the most highly-used products in the Datadog app and central to many key workflows.
As a Staff Designer within the APM Enablement team, you’ll work on end-to-end experiences for setting up APM, integrating new technologies into the product and expanding monitoring coverage for new and existing customers. You will directly influence and impact the future growth of the APM user base.
This role involves close collaboration with product and engineering leaders to ensure alignment and focus driving towards the ideal user experience for customers. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving complex systems problems, designing for technical depth, highly thoughtful and proactive about understanding and designing for edge cases and guiding overall design strategy.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You’ll Do:
- Become a leader in APM - proactively identifying areas of opportunity and driving the design strategy of one or more product areas.
- Work effectively with PM and Engineering teams to iterate and deliver new product experiences. Accounting for scalability across multiple use cases and design consistency across the platform.
- Bridge the gap between technical requirements and user needs, advocating for the user to influence product decisions.
- See your design work through from start to finish: conduct research, turn insights and requirements into compelling ideas, sketch and prototype to bring them to life, and ship products and features that make Datadog better.
- Communicate your design decisions effectively, build momentum and encourage focus on solving the right problems.
- Work closely with senior and executive stakeholders to keep them informed and bought into the design strategy.
- Share tools, frameworks, and patterns that improve team efficiency and scale high-quality work.
- Push the boundaries of what great product design looks like for developer-centric workflows in a fast-moving product ecosystem.
