The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Writer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the SOP library within the Medical Pre-Payment Policy and Pre-Certification Management team. This role is essential for ensuring operational consistency, regulatory compliance, and the transfer of institutional knowledge. The SOP Writer acts as a bridge between technical experts, managers, and end-users, converting complex processes into clear, actionable documents that guide daily operations. SOP Development:
- Writing, reviewing, and updating SOPs : Provide clear, step-by-step guidance on daily operations and complex processes.
- Analyzing existing procedures : Identify areas for improvement or standardization.
- Developing SOP templates and checklists : Create standardized documents for organizational use.
- Conducting interviews and process observations : Capture tacit knowledge and undocumented steps.
- Coordinating with departments : Work with Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Human Resources for SOP approvals.
- Maintaining audit trails and version histories : Ensure all SOPs are properly documented and updated.
- Responding to audit requests : Provide necessary documentation for internal or external regulators.
- Creating supplementary documentation : Develop FAQs, flowcharts, visuals, or reference guides.
- Participating in process improvement projects : Contribute expertise in workflow mapping and documentation.
- Training users : Educate staff on SOP access, interpretation, and compliance obligations.
- Monitoring user adherence : Gather metrics on SOP effectiveness.
- Collaborating with teams : Identify inefficiencies and areas where SOPs can improve consistency and quality.
- Ensuring user-friendly formats : Present SOPs in formats like flowcharts, diagrams, and checklists to aid comprehension.
- Working with SMEs and staff : Gather insights, clarify procedures, and validate content.
- Supporting SOP rollout : Participate in training sessions, create supplementary materials, and answer user queries.
- Overseeing SOP organization : Manage the storage and lifecycle of SOPs within document management systems, ensuring easy accessibility and version control.
Soliciting feedback : Gather user feedback, monitor SOP effectiveness, and initiate improvements to enhance
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years of progressive experience in clinical operations, with a focus on developing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Knowledge: Familiarity with medical terminology, healthcare policy, and governance is essential. Understanding of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) or other regulatory bodies is a significant asset.
- Skills: Exceptional organizational, communication, and time-management skills are critical.
- Technical Proficiency: High-level proficiency in productivity software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other document management systems is necessary.

The typical pay range for this role is:$21.10 - $49.08This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
