We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Development Engineer to spearhead the implementation of critical technical components for a range of program solutions, from small to large-scale projects. In this role, the Staff Software Development Engineer will guide CVS Health's technical resources in delivering project outcomes while minimizing technical risks by identifying design issues early in the project lifecycle.

The Staff Software Development Engineer will also share best practices and recommend alternative solutions. Collaboration with project technical teams for design and code reviews during key project milestones is essential. This is a hands-on position that demands extensive technical expertise across various automation and cloud technologies. You will report directly to the Technology Lead for the Grievance and Appeals Program.
Responsibilities Include
- Lead a matrixed project team in executing assigned tasks and coordinating the efforts of internal and external project team members.
- Ensuring that project team members complete tasks and deliverables on time and within budget, and that the project delivers promised business functionality.
- Identify and capitalize on interdependencies within the project(s) to ensure end-to-end constructive collaboration during all phases of the project life cycle.
- Develop and manage all key project governance documents, such as but not limited to the Project Charter, Workplan, Communications Plan, and Risk Mitigation Strategy Manages to the project budget, and reports project cost information in an accurate and timely manner.
- Function as the technical authority on CVS Health and Aetna's diverse technologies, with a strong emphasis on automation.
- Assess the feasibility and trade-offs of different technologies, making informed decisions that align with project constraints.
- Develop comprehensive business requirements, specifications, process flows, application designs, configurations, testing processes, and release management strategies.
- Lead the integration of business processes across various systems, focusing on cloud-based business applications, particularly cloud integration and BI platforms.
- 7+ years of experience in platform design and implementation, including cloud service platforms, database management, security, application interfaces (APIs), DevOps, Linux, OpenStack, AWS, Rackspace, Google Compute Engine, and Microsoft Azure.
- 5+ year of experience overseeing solution and integration development, including requirements gathering, functional specifications, design, custom development, integration, testing, and deployment.
- 5+ years of experience directing the development of business requirements, specifications, process flows, application design, configuration, testing, and deployment.
- 5+ years of experience engaging directly with clients to lead projects, facilitate business process analysis sessions, and deliver key technology solution components.
- 3+ years of experience in designing both declarative and custom solutions.
- 3+ years of experience in writing, testing, and debugging code.
- 3+ years of experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Good business acumen, professional communication skills both written and verbal.
- Collaborative and supportive business partner.
- Knowledge of healthcare technology systems
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma and 4 years relevant experience)
The typical pay range for this role is:$142,140.00 - $284,280.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
