Senior IBM i Systems Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY The Senior IBM i Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing IBM i on Power Systems, including Server and Storage Administration, Security & Compliance, Performance Monitoring, User Access Control, and Disaster Recovery planning and execution.This role requires expertise in the IBM i O/S, IBM Power Systems, storage technologies, and related tools/utilities. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, Configure, and Maintain IBM i LPARs/servers, including operating system, PTF, and 3rd-party product upgrades/updates and configuration.
- Manage IBM i Security Administration & Compliance including: user profiles, authorities, system access, ensuring compliance with company policies and security best practices.
- Monitor System Performance, identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and implement system tuning to optimize performance.
- Manage and optimize IBM i storage solutions, including SANs, VTLs, and other storage devices.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and implementation.
- Troubleshoot system issues, identify and document root causes, and implement solutions.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Mentor junior team members and provide training on IBM i Systems Administration and Operations best practices.
- Participate in oncall rotation providing 24x7 support, when required.
- 5+ years of experience in IBM i Systems Administration, including experience in complex, enterprise-level environments
- 3+ years of networking within IBM i, including configuration and troubleshooting complex network connections
- 2+ years of expertise in high-availability software solutions and managing data across multiple sites, particularly utilizing the Precisely MIMIX replication product
- 3+ years of experience with advanced IBM i Work Management, including optimization of subsystems, job queues, and scheduling systems
- Proven track record of participating in major system upgrades, including hardware and OS, with a strong focus on minimizing business disruption
- Some level of proficiency in coding and script automation, particularly in CLP (RPG and/or SQL a plus), to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency
- Familiarity with Precisely products (e.g.- Connect CDC, Double-Take Share, Enforcive, etc.), BRMS, Robot/SCHEDULE, and other advanced management utilities
- Understanding of database optimization and performance tuning concepts specific to DB2 for i
- Experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and skill enhancement
- Advanced knowledge of disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing within IBM i environments
- Proficiency in security administration and management, including audit journal analysis, compliance with security frameworks, and mitigation of security risks
- Bachelor's degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

The typical pay range for this role is:$83,430.00 - $203,940.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.Our people fuel our future.
