The Principal Engineer is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) operations, ensuring the reliability and security of certificate services. This role provides visionary leadership and expert guidance for CVS PKI and digital certificate initiatives, leveraging deep technical knowledge of encryption technologies, tools, and industry standards. The position involves close collaboration with Identity and Access Management (IAM) teams and application stakeholders to deliver PKI solutions that support and enhance the organization's broader IT objectives.In addition to deep technical skills, you will have led teams in delivery that may include Software Engineers, QA automation engineers, and Business Analysts. - 10+ years experience in the IT sector
- 8+ years experience architecting, implementing, and maintaining Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solutions within Windows-based enterprise environments
- Experience setting up internal certificate authorities, managing the issuance of certificates from third-party providers, deploying certificates across various platforms, and administering certificate authority databases
- Experience in designing and supporting smart card authentication systems
- Experience in enterprise-level IT architecture, strategic planning, and cybersecurity practices
- Experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), with a strong focus on access control, authentication protocols, and cryptographic key management
- Familiarity with Venafi and Digicert technologies is a plus
- Demonstrated proficiency in automating PKI processes and managing the full lifecycle of digital certificates
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)
The typical pay range for this role is:$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
