The Principal Engineer is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) operations, ensuring the reliability and security of certificate services. This role provides visionary leadership and expert guidance for CVS PKI and digital certificate initiatives, leveraging deep technical knowledge of encryption technologies, tools, and industry standards. The position involves close collaboration with Identity and Access Management (IAM) teams and application stakeholders to deliver PKI solutions that support and enhance the organization's broader IT objectives.In addition to deep technical skills, you will have led teams in delivery that may include Software Engineers, QA automation engineers, and Business Analysts. Your leadership will enable the team to achieve ambitious goals with demonstrable value.   • Mentor engineering team to strengthen engineering expertise, contribute to a positive and supportive culture, encourage innovation, and to drive continuous improvements
  • Lead end-to-end, from strategy through execution
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks
  • Guides work prioritization in alignment with strategic objectives
  • Monitor and optimize performance, identifying opportunities for enhancement and addressing any issues or bottlenecks
  • Builds relationships with partners, vendors, teams, and customers. Leads the way through collaboration
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in middleware and integration technologies to drive innovation and efficiency
  • Lead the team in adopting new and innovative practices and technologies Leader of change and comfortable in high-paced environments with high levels of ambiguity. Lead team in pivoting as needed while remaining steadfastly focused on the overall objective
Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years experience in the IT sector
  • 8+ years experience architecting, implementing, and maintaining Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solutions within Windows-based enterprise environments
  • Experience setting up internal certificate authorities, managing the issuance of certificates from third-party providers, deploying certificates across various platforms, and administering certificate authority databases
  • Experience in designing and supporting smart card authentication systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in enterprise-level IT architecture, strategic planning, and cybersecurity practices
  • Experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), with a strong focus on access control, authentication protocols, and cryptographic key management
  • Familiarity with Venafi and Digicert technologies is a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency in automating PKI processes and managing the full lifecycle of digital certificates
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)
Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:$144,200.00 - $288,400.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.Our people fuel our future.
