  • Lead with Purpose: Manage and mentor a high-performing underwriting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Strategic Initiatives: Design and implement innovative underwriting programs that align with evolving business goals and market dynamics.
  • Forecast & Adapt: Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to anticipate impacts, assess business risks, and develop proactive strategies.
  • Deliver Complex Solutions: Oversee underwriting for large group contracts involving diverse product types, funding arrangements, and rating methodologies.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with Sales, Claims, and Customer Service to develop customer-centric underwriting strategies that support growth and retention.
  • Set Standards: Establish and enforce underwriting guidelines, ensuring consistency, compliance, and sound decision-making within authority limits.
  • Coach & Develop Talent: Support the professional growth of junior team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and skill development.
What You Bring
  • Strong leadership and team management experience in underwriting or risk-related roles
  • Deep understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and financial impact analysis
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and implement strategic initiatives
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional training
  • Proficiency in business intelligence tools and underwriting systems
  • Experience with large group underwriting and complex case design

The typical pay range for this role is:$66,330.00 - $145,860.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.Our people fuel our future.
