The Executive Director of Onboarding Strategy is responsible for unifying and leading CVS Health's enterprise-wide onboarding experience. This leader will integrate fragmented functional components and drive a discovery phase to map current state, identify gaps, and prioritize opportunities. By leveraging technology, analytics, and cross-functional partnerships-including DDAT HR Technology, HR Analytics, and key vendors-the Executive Director will deliver a scalable, best-in-class onboarding strategy that accelerates colleague engagement, supports diverse roles, and embeds CVS Health's culture and transformation goals from day one.Signature Impact (First 12 Months):

- Establish clear enterprise ownership and governance for onboarding, uniting all functional stakeholders under a single vision.
- Complete an enterprise-wide discovery and gap analysis, resulting in a prioritized onboarding transformation roadmap.
- Deliver measurable improvements in onboarding experience and consistency, with a special focus on addressing the 'middle' of the organization.
- Launch and operationalize a scalable onboarding program that improves new colleague engagement and retention across all business units.
- Partner with DDAT HR Technology, HR Analytics, and external vendors to implement innovative, tech-enabled onboarding solutions and real-time feedback loops.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding strategy that supports diverse colleague personas-from in-store and call center roles to executive leadership.
- Serve as the enterprise owner of onboarding, establishing clear governance, accountability, and cross-functional alignment across all stakeholder groups (HRSS, IT, HRBPs, TA, Real Estate/Facilities, Hiring Leaders, EAs, etc.).
- Lead the discovery phase through listening tours and analysis of lifecycle surveys, TA hiring surveys (new hire and hiring manager), retail onboarding surveys, and executive interviews.
- Synthesize large volumes of quantitative and qualitative data and feedback to inform onboarding strategy and prioritization.
- Translate insights into a prioritized roadmap balancing short-term actions with long-term investments.
- Partner across Learning & Development, HRSS, IT, DDAT HR Technology, HR Analytics, HRBPs, TA, hiring leaders, and EAs to ensure consistent, seamless onboarding experiences.
- Prioritize and address the most significant onboarding gaps.
- Build strong relationships with senior and executive leaders to drive alignment and sponsorship for onboarding initiatives.
- Establish governance and accountability models for onboarding across functions.
- Lead the selection and management of any onboarding technology vendors and platforms in partnership with DDAT.
- Define and track onboarding KPIs, leveraging data and insights to drive continuous improvement and demonstrate business impact.
- Continuously scan for emerging onboarding technologies and best practices; recommend and implement enhancements to advance the colleague experience.
- Integrate onboarding with culture, values, and leadership frameworks to ensure a consistent and engaging colleague experience enterprise-wide.
- Develop executive-ready reports and presentations to communicate onboarding outcomes and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Ensure onboarding strategy aligns with CVS Health's culture, values, and transformation goals.
- 15+ years of experience in HR, talent strategy, or organizational development, with a focus on onboarding or colleague experience.
- Proven success leading onboarding transformation efforts at large organizations (50,000+ colleagues) with multiple business units.
- Experience designing onboarding experiences for diverse colleague personas.
- Highly organized with the ability to synthesize large volumes of data, insights, and feedback into actionable strategy.
- Strong strategic thinking and prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication and executive presence; able to influence without direct authority.
- Skilled collaborator with a track record of building cross-functional partnerships.
- Experience navigating complex, matrixed organizations with shared services and decentralized structures.
- Systems thinker with a bias for action.
- Empathetic leader who understands the colleague journey.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to drive clarity in evolving environments.
Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree in HR, Business, Organizational Psychology, or related field preferred.Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:$131,500.00 - $303,195.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
