Technician Apprentice Program (TAP) - Power Generation - Fargo, ND
Description
We are looking for a talented Technician Apprentice to join our team specializing in Power Generation for our Distribution Business in Fargo, ND.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
During your apprenticeship, you are a full-time, paid employee who will complete a development program with the support of our coaching technicians and managers. Our agreement with you ensures you receive the following upon successful completion:
- Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree, Automotive & Diesel Technology\
- U.S. Department of Labor Trade Certificates for Diesel Engines
- No college debt - Cummins pays for your education/ Course credits that are transferable towards a bachelor's degree

- Passionate about working with your hands
- Applicants must meet the minimum community college general education course requirement of 2.8 GPA High School (unweighted), or 22 ACT score, or GED with one year of college including Math and English with a minimum 2.8 GPA
- Ability to work with small hand tools while maintaining overall safety
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- First 4 months
- Work with an assigned Shop Mentor
- Attend first two week segment at college for Diesel Engines and Basic Electricity
- Complete assigned HSE Training and InPower Training
- Complete Proficiency Book Requirements for Diesel Engines
- Assigned PPE in preparation to work with FSPG Mentor
- Months 4 through 6
- Continue working with assigned Shop Mentor
- Receive all PG PPE prior to attending the next 2 week class
- Attend second two week segment for Fundamentals of AC Generation, PG Preventive Maintenance and NFPA70E Electrical Safety
- Months 7 through 9
- Ride-along with Qualified PG Tech for minimum of 320 hours before assigned a truck to work alone in the field
- Months 10 through 12
- Assigned Service Truck
- A current valid license is required for this role
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
- This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
- 3 years driving experience
- This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
- Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age.
Base hourly rate commensurate with experience.
