DESCRIPTION

Create value by leading the Supplier Quality function for complex New Product launches, Partner with the cross-functional program core team to develop a program strategy that can achieve Zero Defect Mentality quality performance and meet all customer requirements. Identify and partner with global Supplier Quality Engineering resources that will support the program from inception to launch. Integrate with the global Supplier Quality leadership team to drive the closure of Supplier Quality Engineering capacity, competency, or process gaps that could impact meeting program deliverables. Drive significant design risk into appropriate forums and build teams and strategiesthat can effectively mitigate risk. Co-develop Program Specific Sourcing Strategies with the Purchasing function to enable the Value Package Introduction (VPI) program to utilize suppliers that meet both quality and cost expectations. Integrate into the development of high risk and complex products to ensure the application of industry common Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes, Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) tool, and Cummins specialty tools to develop zero defect components with the external supply base. Lead external supplier audits in support of supplier selection, supplier risk mitigation, supplier readiness, and supplier performance improvement. Ensure robust resolution of externally supplier product quality or manufacturing quality issues. Lead root cause analysis, development of corrective actions, and verification of the effectiveness of corrective actions. Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and Engineering Standards and participate in Drawing Quality Reviews to correctly interpret the technical requirements of an engineering drawing, applying knowledge to improve a product's design for manufacturability and measurability. Apply core automotive tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, and PPAP to validate that a manufacturing process can consistently meet technical and customer requirements. Ensure supplier product reliability and safe-launch execution by evaluating the supplier's product design, manufacturing process design, and product validation process to ensure the supplier is capable to meet reliability expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Positions require a Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or related) and 5 years of experience as a Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: New Product launches; Achieve Zero Defect Mentality quality performance; Drive the closure of supplier capacity, competency, or process gaps; Program Specific Sourcing Strategies; Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes, Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) tool; External supplier audits, supplier selection, and supplier performance improvement; Root cause analysis, development of corrective actions; Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and Engineering Standards; DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, and PPAP to meet technical and customer requirements; Ensure supplier product reliability and safe-launch execution.
