DESCRIPTION

Work Plan Overview

For a DAPCEP STW candidate to work in the Product Validation Lab Team, it would be desirable for the individual to have an interest in mechanical systems such as automotive vehicles and/or automotive components. In addition, having a functional knowledge of Microsoft office computer software systems is beneficial. The candidate is self-motivated, can follow instructions and can complete routine assignments with limited supervision and should have reasonable written and verbal communication skills.

The DAPCEP STW candidate's function would be to work with one of the Test Engineers to shadow them and learn about how particular automotive components function and how they are tested. They would participate in kick-off meetings for new test requests to see how the interaction goes between product engineering, product validation testing and program management. Once the test begins, the candidate would monitor the test progress and would provide a daily update, via e-mail, to our internal customers as well as acting as an interface between the product validation team and product engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Responsibilities

Someone who is interested in Automotive, vehicle components, more beneficial - even robotics - shadow test engineer and learn about components, what they do, how they work and durability - will communicate with internal customer - liason between this team and internal customer, will contact them for info and test results. If the candidate is majoring in the following, they may be a good fit: Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer - EE programs automotive.

Work with one of the Test Engineers to shadow them and learn about how particular automotive components function and how they are tested.

Participate in kick-off meetings for new test requests to see how the interaction goes between product engineering, product validation testing and program management.

Monitor the test progress and provide a daily update to the internal customers.

Be an interface between the product validation team and product engineering.

Assist with coordinated moving of tested materials to the post-test holding areas or the Materials Engineering Lab (tested parts for analysis).

Assist Test Technicians with test report information.

Other

Work safely in compliance with Cummins safety guidelines (Safety training to be provided before working in the test labs).

Maintain orderly work area in accordance with Cummins standards.
