Sourcing Specialists - Senior #IN1209
DESCRIPTION
Conduct complex analysis of markets, supply chains, and supply case. Apply analysis to sourcing process improvement initiatives, identify qualified suppliers, and execute sound source selection processes. Regularly interface with suppliers and maintain supplier relationships. Source specialized items and execute complex sourcing strategies in accordance with agreed upon sourcing strategy/plans at the optimum cost, quality and relationship. Understand how key purchasing principles are used toward assuring supply. Independently carry out sourcing activities with full consideration for the impact of those activities on the end-to-end supply chain. Participate in sourcing and category commodity strategy formulation. Analyze complex sourcing and purchasing initiatives and processes in support of the delivery of cost effective and high quality goods and services. Prepare and present to senior leadership recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action. Ensure consistent application of sourcing procedures and processes. Provide guidance for purchasing/sourcing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, industry and market analysis, process analysis, and model building. Lead a team of sourcing analysts and specialists at the business unit category or international purchasing organization (IPO) regional level. Negotiate select contracts, understand the importance of compliance, and alert management to situations that can pose risk to Cummins. Establish and control product and service costs using functional tools to deliver and track products and services at competitive prices. Ensure competitiveness of Cummins products in out markets while preserving desired margins and identify value creation opportunities. Avoid supplier engagement that may compromise supplier sourcing, selection, and management processes and seek counsel to ensure compliance. Establish category strategy using Total Value Performance (TPV) approach to define the Supply Base, Tooling and Technology Strategy to meet all current and future company needs. Manage risk and inclusion of diverse suppliers. Create contracts to cover commercial and legal relationship between Cummins and the supplier, and develop a mutually agreed and legally approved contract created using Contract Management and Negotiation Excellence skills. Define a category's key/strategic suppliers and manage the relationship of those suppliers using agreed Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process with stablished work plan, senior sponsor meetings, and scorecards. Define and evaluate a collaborative relationship with key/strategic suppliers to deliver value to Cummins and the supplier.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Positions require a Master's degree in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management, or related field and 2 years of experience as a Sourcing, Purchasing, or Supply Chain Analyst or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management, or related field and 5 years of experience as a Sourcing, Purchasing, or Supply Chain Analyst or related position. Experience to include: Supply chain analysis; Sourcing process improvement initiatives; Sourcing and category commodity strategy formulation; Price benchmarking, vendor management, industry and market analysis, process analysis; Contract negotiation; Functional tools to deliver products and services at competitive prices; Identify value creation opportunities; Total Value Performance (TPV) approach; Contract Management and Negotiation Excellence skills; Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process.
