Job Summary:
The Site Quality Leader creates value by building an effective team, by managing daily operations, or supporting initiatives that enable the function, business unit or customer to achieve its business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Manages and may lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of subsets or all aspects of the plant quality system. Establishes and maintains quality assurance expectations, methods, and approaches for the site. Manages the plant quality team and plant operational goal tree objectives in alignment with the Cummins Operating System. Participates in the development and leads the quality function achievement of the Annual Operating Plan for the site. Responsible for the quality of products produced and for work stoppage if a problem is discovered affecting the product. Determines quality project priorities and organizes resources to accomplish the work for the site. Monitors improvement teams to ensure that goals are achieved and reported (Examples: Right First Time (RFT) improvements, cost of poor quality, Product Quality Council) for the site. Ensures that quality assessments and audits for the site are conducted in accordance with the Plant Quality System. Leads post-event reviews to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement. Accountable for ensuring products and processes for the site meet initial and long-term quality standards (Examples: International Automotive Task Force (IATF), customer specific requirements, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Product Parts Approval Process (PPAP) documentation submittal etc.). May manage Value Package Introduction Quality planning, prevention, and protection completion against manufacturing processes. Champions continuous improvement initiatives in the plant by utilizing industry proven methodology (Example: lean manufacturing, 7 step problem solving, Intelligent Quality Tools and Methods (IQTM), etc.). Manages the six-sigma process at the plant (examples: being the hooper facilitator, plant acting Master Black Belt (MBB), set and track certification progress, etc.). Manages and develops Quality Engineers and Calibration and Metrology team at the plant. Aligns quality management practices for the site with the emerging and advanced technology driven capabilities to achieve organizational excellence beyond just process and operational excellence. Acts as a change agent to identify value creation opportunities for stakeholders by driving the strategy approach without loosing focus on existing operational support and responsibilities. Sets quality priorities and requirements when deploying new technologies at a site level Identifies and solves complex problems more efficiently by adopting new tools. Identifies opportunities in product and process to reduce greenhouse emissions in support of company-wide initiatives.

Quality Leadership (Cummins Operating System) - Demonstrates knowledge of and practices the principles of the Cummins Operating System (COS); translates the principles of COS to the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) to assess performance against customer and business requirements; to create a right environment and Quality culture, and seeks and actions opportunities for continuous improvement with a customer centric mindset at all times.
Quality Process Management - Proficient application of quality tools and methods (e.g. APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, Capability studies, Process Audit, inspection, test, etc.) to ensure quality of products, processes and services.
Quality Systems Management - Utilizes the quality tools and processes to ensure the quality management system is understood, implemented, maintained, and demonstrates its ability to consistently and effectively provide products/services that meet requirements.
Statistical Foundations - Applies statistical tools and technique to influence decision making; leverages understanding of data collection methods, key statistics, graphical and analytical methods to describe process performance, gain insights and drive improvement action
Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet the function's needs and contribute towards continuous improvement.
Quality Influence - Ability to recognize stakeholders, create a forum to professionally extract stakeholder perspectives, drive and engage in constructive conflict, and to influence outcomes in order to ensure Cummins makes a balanced decision inclusive of Quality priorities.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Demonstrated role competence is required. College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject or experience equivalent is required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Significant relevant work experience required. Preferably 5-7 years' experience in Manufacturing, Engineering or Program Management role in the automotive industry or a similarly regulated industry.
Minimum of 3 years of managerial experience preferred.
