Power Generation Field Service Technician

We are looking for a Field Service Technician in our Power Generation department to join our team in Saskatoon (SK).

In this role, you will be part of our mobile team, and you will get to work on Cummins's latest technologies.

A $ 5000 Sign-on bonus is coming your way if you have the skills and experience to take on this role.

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

Experience:

  • Customer service experience is an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge or experience on diesel or natural gas engines is an asset
  • Some mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities is an asset
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage / Power Generation experience is an asset

Education-certifications:

  • Red Seal certification (Heavy Duty or Truck and Transport) is an asset.
  • Locally valid driving permit
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Qualifications

On Call rotation required.

• A copy of your red seal certification or trade's diploma is required for this position.

• A copy of a 5 years driver's abstract is required for this position.

• A valid local driver's license is required for this position.

About the role:

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday - Starting time of 7:30am with½ hour lunch break (40 hrs. week)
  • The position will support the Power Generation department and shall receive extensive Cummins Training.
  • This position will also require to be on call every 4-5 weeks for one week at a time which is compensated, and will go in to effect once the training is completed.
  • The position will involve some traveling and some occasional work at the Saskatoon Branch service center.
  • This position requires work including (commissioning, preventative maintenance, diagnosis and repair) on generators ranging from portable RV units all the way up to large commercial.
  • Cummins provides Field Service Technicians with a company truck with full service body to perform the work.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Engage customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Anticipate and ensure prompt and efficient attention to customer needs
  • Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete less complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field
  • Escalate unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians, tech support network, Supervisor
  • Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
  • Complete training in line with skill and business requirements
  • Maintain service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor.
