Placement Student - Test Engineering

We are looking for an enthusiastic Test Engineering Placement student to join our team at Darlington. Within this role you'll conduct testing on a variety of existing and future products to make sure we deliver on our commitments to our customers. During your placement with us you'll learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the knowledge and exposure you need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential.
This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2026. This placement is 100% site-based.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Analysing and interpreting test requests for diesel engine and aftertreatment development activities on engine dynamometer test cells.
- Managing prototype equipment and test setups.
- Generating test plans and creating testing sequence files.
- Ensuring the test systems are set up correctly and performing as expected.
- Undertake data analysis following testing, communicating findings and creating associated reports.
- Diagnosis and troubleshooting of issues, creating problem statements and working with several teams to resolve.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- We are looking for a range of applicants studying towards a Bachelors or Masters degree from across Engineering and STEM related subjects.
- Good knowledge of MS office (Excel and Word).
- Methodical and data-based approach to problem solving, with strong team working and communication skills.
- Knowledge of diesel engine architecture and/or alternative powertrain components an advantage but not essential - training will be provided.
