Utilize advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices to oversee process cleanliness (CES 16599) and environmental cleanliness (CES 18316) specifications, providing expert guidance and making informed decisions to enhance manufacturing and assembly processes. Lead the implementation and management of Manufacturing Process Cleanliness (MPC) and Technical Cleanliness, and Corrosion Control (TC3) practices across Fuel Systems locations. Solve industrial corrosion problems using a systematic analysis process to create problem traceability, determine the assignable cause, implement data-based solution, identify systemic root causes and recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Oversee the Traceability standard, consult with stakeholders, including the PD&D Team and Engineering. Ensure adherence to safety practices within the laboratories, aligning with global laboratory leadership requirements. Utilize design validation and 7-step problem solving techniques to address and resolve complex quality issues related to product cleanliness, providing global support to all business units. Manage quality assurance methods to ensure IATF compliance. Utilize the laboratory to improve test methods and reliability, define criteria for current and future products, research new equipment related to Technical Cleanliness evaluations, and provide solutions to internal and external customers. Evaluate component requirements in order to identity base material and processing options, and validate selected material and process by defining necessary test plan to prove capability to requirements. Provide technical expertise and solutions to customers requiring laboratory analysis, including component failure analysis and material identification. Participate in Management and Design Reviews to support product development and launches. Conduct monthly discussions on new coating technologies including DLC coatings, PPT and VPI projects, current product issues and supplier development. Develop new technical cleanliness recommendations and techniques for new products, and perform analysis to evaluate trends and implement improvements. Define production corrosion practices and standardizes avoidance measures. Optimize production wash processes and selects wash equipment. Define appropriate material characterization schedules using correct laboratory equipment to ensure requirements are met. Ensure laboratory samples are evaluated according to internal Engineering standards and international practices ordinances. Ensure laboratory goals are met in accordance with organizational requirements. Coach and mentor other engineers, project managers, and cross-functional team members.

Responsibilities

Positions require a Master's degree in Materials, Quality or Industrial Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as a Materials, Quality or Chemist Engineer or Leader, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Materials, Quality or Industrial Engineering, or related field and 6 years of experience as a Materials, Quality or Chemist Engineer or Leader, or related position. Experience to include: Manufacturing environment process development; Technical cleanliness consultation and leadership; Manufacturing process cleanliness (MPC); Corrosion Control practices; Systematic analysis process to identify systemic root causes; Design validation and 7-step problem solving techniques; Improve product quality and reliability; Component failure analysis; Washer selection and optimization.
