DESCRIPTION

We are looking for 2 talented Material Planners to join our team specialising in Supply Chain Planning for our SCS Plan to build department in Peterborough, United Kingdom.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract with the potential to become permanent based on business needs and individual performance. Within this role you will be working 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday, between 8.00am - 4.30pm. The 1 st few weeks being onsite and after a satisfactory training period moving to a hybrid pattern with 40% office based.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Ensure Material Availability: You'll help keep production on track by accurately determining what materials are needed and when, based on customer demand and production schedules.
  • Drive Supplier Performance: By managing supplier schedules and supporting improvement initiatives, you'll contribute to more reliable deliveries and shorter lead times.
  • Reduce Inventory Waste: Your careful planning around part changes and production ramp-ups or ramp-downs will help minimise excess and obsolete stock.
  • Support Quality Standards: You'll help maintain high quality by checking planning data and working with Quality teams to resolve any issues with non-conforming materials promptly.
  • Strengthen Cross-Functional Collaboration: By working closely with sourcing managers, suppliers, and internal teams, you'll improve coordination and communication across the supply chain.
  • Enhance Supply Chain Responsiveness: Your timely updates on stock levels and backorder recovery plans will help the business respond quickly to changes in demand or supply.
  • Promote Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance: By following HSE policies and reporting any hazards, you'll contribute to a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement: Through involvement in improvement projects and ongoing personal development, you'll help drive innovation and efficiency across operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • Strong Material Planning Knowledge: Previous experience in material planning is highly desirable, especially with the ability to manage supply and demand effectively using tools like MRP/ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in PFEP Principles: You should be confident applying Plan for Every Part methodology to optimise material flow, master data accuracy, and inventory management across the end-to-end supply chain.
  • Master Supply Scheduling Expertise: The ability to create and maintain a valid Master Production Schedule that aligns with customer needs and operational efficiency is essential.
  • Analytical Skills in KPI Management: You'll need to interpret material-related KPIs, identify performance gaps, and make informed decisions that balance trade-offs while improving supply chain outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • College, University or equivalent degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • PC literate (Windows, MS-office):
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Experience with GOMS, SAP, Oracle, or a similar ERP package; or another Inventory Planning system is a plus.
  • Quality/Improvement Skills: General Business Knowledge, Managing Work, Problem Solving, Customer Oriented, Perseverance.
  • Teamwork Skills: Attention to Detail, Collaboration / Cooperation, Oral & Written Communication, Dealing with Ambiguity.
