DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Machining Engineer to join our team specializing in Manufacturing in Seymour, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Optimize Manufacturing Processes : By determining the necessary parts and tools, you'll help achieve manufacturing goals, reduce setup times, and streamline changeovers.
  • Enhance Product Performance : Collaborating with engineering, you'll identify and solve product and performance issues, recommending solutions or enhancements.
  • Innovate Technical Products : Your involvement in the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems will drive innovation.
  • Improve Equipment Design : Conducting equipment engineering design evaluations and documenting results will lead to recommendations that enhance product quality and procedures.
  • Boost Equipment Availability : Utilizing continuous improvement tools and working cross-functionally, you'll improve equipment availability and capability.
  • Advance Machining Processes : Assisting with the planning, design, purchase, and implementation of machining processes and equipment will optimize industrial plant operations.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement : Your efforts in identifying and implementing enhancements will foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support Cross-Functional Collaboration : Working with various teams, you'll ensure seamless integration and coordination, enhancing overall productivity and efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • Procure Equipment Wisely : Select manufacturing equipment that meets Cummins specifications and project needs, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Apply Manufacturing Knowledge : Implement changes in processes, equipment, and applications to meet functional needs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Document Processes Thoroughly : Produce clear and sequential manufacturing procedures to ensure continuity and standardization across stakeholders.
  • Value Diversity : Recognize and appreciate the value of different perspectives and cultures within the organization.
  • Select Appropriate Materials : Understand the characteristics of materials used in manufacturing and select the appropriate ones for specific processes.
  • Utilize Dimensional Metrology : Apply measurement science to develop and implement inspection processes that meet regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Implement Machine Guarding : Apply machine guarding standards to reduce risks and ensure compliance with Cummins policies and legal requirements.
  • Program Machines Efficiently : Design and implement factory floor machine programs to improve machine usage and overall operations.
  • Optimize Material Removal : Select tools for material removal processes that meet product requirements at the lowest cost, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Design Measurement Processes : Use knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and measurement technology to design systems that meet industry and customer standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

  • Basic level of relevant work experience required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to read 2d part drawings including a basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Basic understanding of part machining & fixturing.
  • Experience with Siemens 840d CNC programming language advantageous.

Additional Information:

  • Lead, participate and support Safety investigations & improvement projects.
  • May be required to train and/or supervise AMA's, Interns/Co-ops, or School to Work students.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule to support production needs.
  • This is an onsite role.
