Engine Field Service Technician
Description
We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Lafayette (Louisiana) who will make an impact in the following ways:
- Completes preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on engines and related components at the customer site with minimal direction.
- Engages with customer in a courteous and professional manner. Ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.
- Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete basic repairs, including preparing required parts and tools.
- Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor.
- Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engines and related components in the field.
- Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets and warranty claims via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
- Completes training in line with skill and business requirements Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
Education, Licenses, Certifications
- Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
- Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution.
- Locally valid driving permit.
Experience
- Minimal level of workshop related experience required.
- Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
Working hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm. Salary starts at 47k
(Intermediate):
- Completes complex internal engine repairs
- Performs engine overhauls with limited direct supervision
- Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
- Larger more complicated engine rebuilds
- Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
- A current valid license is required for this role
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
- This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
- 3 years driving experience
- This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
- Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age.
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
