Key Responsibilities:

Develop all aspects of control systems, equipment and machinery. Develop and implement bench tests, and alter equipment to ensure that sensors and actuators are functioning according to specifications. Lead the support and debugging of complex systems problems and change requests. Prepare cost estimates, compile required cost and equipment information, and write and review appropriation requests. Design and implement new Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) solutions, specify equipment and materials for projects, and help with installation, startup, troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance and operation. Identify and control electrical hazards and utilize knowledge of lock out/tag out requirements and electrical safety (including NFPA 70E requirements and electrical protection devices such as highly sensitive differential circuit breakers and fuses) to develop and implement a comprehensive electrical safety program. Utilize highly specialized knowledge of Ladder Logic and Human-Machine Interfaces used in the control of manufacturing processes and equipment to lead controls installation projects and specify significant upgrades to existing equipment. Understand the information management system used to provide data to users and machines on the production floor, collect data from user and machines on the production floor, and communicate with business system applications such as Enterprise Resource Planning, scheduling and Product Data Management. Lead the procedures and projects to make modifications to Manufacturing Execution Systems within a given plant operation environment. Design, troubleshoot, and repair facility and machine electrical systems while utilizing the required safety procedures. Utilize extensive experience with factory floor networking systems and Sensor Technology and Measurement to design and implement new networking solutions.

Experience and Education:

Positions require a Master's degree in Electrical, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience as a Controls or Systems Engineer, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience as a Controls or Systems Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Prepare cost estimates; Programmable Logic Controller (PLC); Manufacturing processes and equipment; Enterprise Resource Planning; Product Data Management; Manufacturing Execution Systems; Factory floor networking systems; Sensor Technology and Measurement.
