Position Summary:
This position will serve as the subject matter expert in the best practices of programming and project execution for the team of Development Project Managers. The Manager of Capital Development will also handle a portion of the overall project workload as well as work with the Director of Planning & Construction on the establishment and continued evolution of the standards of project and program execution.
Responsibilities:
1. Subject Matter Expert: The Manager of Capital Development must be an example for the rest of the team on effective collaboration with internal & external stakeholders in all subject areas including but not limited to planning, construction management & administration, program and project management principles.
2. Overall Program Management: the Manager of Capital Development will be looked to as a resource in assisting the Director of Planning & Construction in instituting best program/project management practices as well as looking for continuous improvements for consideration by leadership and the team.
3. Planning Expertise: the Manager of Capital Development should exhibit a high level of understanding of the planning process including design, entitlements and permitting.
4. Construction Expertise: The Manager of Capital Development should exhibit a high level of understanding of the construction process including Bidding, GC Selection/Qualifying, Construction schedule, GC/vendor payment, final construction budgets & construction oversight and closeout.
5. Project Management: The Manager of Capital Development will be expected to handle a portion of the overall project workload.
6. Will be required to travel to construction sites on as needed basis as a subject matter expert.
Working Relationships:
Development Project Managers, Field Leaders, Design Professionals, General Contractors, Subcontractors, Equipment Vendors, Local/State Agencies, Regulatory Officials, and other EG America SSC personnel in multiple departments.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, project/program management, construction management or equivalent experience
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in project/program management or construction management with complimentary certifications or graduate work such as PMP or Graduate Certificates.
Minimum Experience:
7 years of Capital Retail Development experience including design, entitlements, permitting and construction disciplines.
Preferred Experience:
10 years of Capital Retail Development in the C-Store/Petroleum sector with experience in program management, design, entitlements, permitting and construction disciplines.
Licenses/Certifications:
None Required.
Soft Skills:
- Comfortable talking and interacting with others

Other Requirements:
Travel: Travel up to 35%, depending upon geographic location. Must have a clean driving record.
Hours & Conditions: Typically, Monday – Friday for 8 hours/day during normal business hours with occasional weekend work to attend events or address critical issues.
Physical Requirements: Ability to maneuver and regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Ability to stand/walk 8 hours a day; reach overhead, bend, squat, twist, reach, grasp and grip and work in cooler (cold temperatures). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
