Site Communications Lead (Bern)

The Corporate and External Affairs function integrate Communications, Government Affairs and Patient Advocacy to strengthen CSL's internal and external position externally, drive employee and stakeholder engagement and influence and enhance the company's reputation and identity.

The Internal Engagement team is focused on deepening worldwide employee engagement, enhancing strategic alignment and momentum, and strengthening company culture. This team plays a key role in activating senior leaders as conduits and stewards of the company strategy and values. We also are integral to fostering a positive work environment to drive the company goals.

The Bern Site Communications Lead is responsible for ensuring that employees across the Bern manufacturing site, and Swiss manufacturing (St Gallen) and office sites (Zurich) are engaged, informed, and aligned with the company's global mission. The role ensures that company strategy is effectively communicated, enabling employees to connect their work to broader business priorities.

This position plays an important role in supporting site communications and local Bern community engagement, fostering a culture of transparency, and ensuring that communications support regional and global transformation initiatives. This role is also responsible for community engagement and crisis communications to ensure that CSL is well positioned to deliver our strategic ambition. In this position you will be directly reporting to Internal Engagement Lead for Europe & UK and Marburg Site Head.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Switzerland Internal Engagement

  • Through deep understanding of enterprise, business unit and site strategy and goals, and partnering with other CEA and functional colleagues in the country, develop and own the "One CSL" country internal engagement strategy, and support of local external relations.

  • Serve as the Swiss lead for Internal Engagement ensuring alignment with corporate messaging across all Swiss sites.
  • Partner closely with HR, Operations, and Business Leaders to drive internal engagement initiatives that strengthen employee connection to the company's mission and performance objectives
  • Provide regional perspective and insights for global enterprise communications.

  • Site Communications Leadership
    • Develop and manage site communications for the Bern site ensuring that employees understand the company strategy and business unit objectives and fostering values-based culture.
    • Participates in site leadership, assisting with planning, budgeting, and communications initiatives.
    • Provides strategic counsel to Bern site leaders to ensure aligned messaging and increase internal and external engagement, community relations and media opportunities.
    • Develops and executes strategic and leadership communications plans.
    • Enhances company reputation and positioning in the community through local, site-specific media relations, community engagement, and digital communications.
    • Ensure site-level crisis communications are managed effectively in partnership with Corporate Affairs and the global reputation COE and the relevant business teams.
    • Customizes and implements site communications of global change initiatives to ensure they are timely, relevant and site-specific.
    • Lead communications capability-building initiatives for site leaders to enhance their effectiveness as internal influencers and strengthen their ability to engage and motivate their teams.
    • Acts as a primary communications lead for key site initiatives like office moves, consolidations and change initiatives.
    • Develop and execute site-specific engagement activities, including town halls, leadership fire-side chats, and feedback mechanisms.

    Additional Responsibilities
    • Participates in the Global Initiatives Communications projects on an ad hoc basis to communicate specific initiatives, drive change and engage employees.
    • Establishes and tracks metrics and analytics to inform future internal engagement strategies.

    Your Profile
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, English, Journalism or Business
    • 7+ years' experience in communications
    • Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience desirable
    • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
    • Excellent writing, editing and creative skills
    • Ability to create end-to-end compelling content including written stories and videos, and the ability to edit, get approvals and publish
    • Multilingual communication skills required (Candidate must have English proficiency & German proficiency, Swiss German is a plus.).
    • Demonstrated ability to be effective in a highly matrixed organization
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments
    • Creative vision and a passion for storytelling, with a keen eye for detail and quality
    • Ability/willingness to travel to other company sites within CSL globally.
