About the Role:
At CrowdStrike, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is at the forefront of ensuring the reliability and scalability of our cloud-native security platform. As an SRE Engineering Director, you will be developing and executing on the global SRE strategy for teams of engineers across multiple regions including North America, APAC, and Europe. Your teams are responsible for managing the complex challenges of scale unique to CrowdStrike, leveraging your expertise in software engineering, systems design, and automation. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our services maintain the highest levels of reliability, uptime, and performance, meeting the needs of our customers while continuously improving our systems. You'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects while providing support and mentorship to your team, enabling them to learn, grow, and make a lasting impact in the cybersecurity landscape. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in cloud-based distributed systems operating at large scale, strong leadership skills, and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams. Given our remote-first culture, exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with engineering teams and colleagues worldwide. Prior experience in the security industry is not required for this role.
What You'll Need:
- Proven track record of building and leading strong engineering teams
- 12+ years of software engineering experience across all phases of the software development lifecycle, 6+ years of experience specifically in Site Reliability Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering
- 8+ years of hands-on management experience overseeing engineering teams
- Experience with managing geographically distributed teams
- Proficiency in at least one cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Comprehensive understanding of distributed systems development, including distributed systems concepts and API development
- Strong design and problem-solving skills with a focus on engineering excellence, quality, security, and performance
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated ability to build, operationalize, and maintain highly scalable and redundant systems
- Track record of owning and delivering on a multi-year strategic roadmap.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) to proactively identify and address performance issues
- Ability to obtain CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) certification
- Exposure to or experience in cybersecurity and intelligence
- Proficiency in Golang and/or container and container orchestration technologies
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud (cloud and data center) or multi-regional environments
- Experience with AI and/or ML.
- Contributions to open-source projects or involvement in the tech community through conferences, meetups, or online forums.
