Job Summary
This position supports overall plant operations by filling in across various production roles, ensuring consistent workflow and efficiency. This position serves as a backup operator for all production positions and as a backup mechanic to support equipment maintenance and repair as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as a versatile team member able to step into any production position as required.
- Operate equipment and machinery across all production lines safely and efficiently.
- Serve as a backup machine operator during absences, vacations, or high-demand periods. (Secondary for Bag Plant).
- Support mechanics by troubleshooting, adjusting, and repairing equipment when needed.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks under the guidance of the maintenance team.
- Assist with equipment changeovers, setups, and line adjustments when needed.
- Monitor product quality and perform inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
- Follow all plant safety protocols and report potential hazards immediately.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, supporting 5S/lean manufacturing practices.
- Communicate with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth transitions between roles.
- Provide training assistance for new employees on equipment and procedures.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

Job Requirements
- Previous experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and repairs.
- Ability to operate multiple types of production machinery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to adapt to different roles and schedules as needed.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills for logging production and maintenance data.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions and operations manuals and follow step by step instructions.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or hear.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing plant environment (heat, noise, moving equipment).
- The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. from the ground level. The need to lift over 65 lbs. may arise from time to time - should this be the case, employees should engage in team lifting and/or use the provided equipment to safely lift.
- The employee must have the capability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and your whole body - ability to stand, walk, bending, crouching, climbing - using steps and ladders, pushing pulling, stooping and reaching.
