- Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT.

- Provide leadership and direction to the Quality Control team to ensure high quality, efficiency, and service.
- Coordinate capital expenditure (CapEx) program to ensure quality control equipment and facilities are available to meet company needs.
- Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including mix optimization, design optimization, plant efficiency, recycle efficiency, and bonus capture.
- Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
- Responsible for monitoring quality of raw material at sites and working with team to maintain and improve.
- Formulate and maintain quality assurance objectives and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize cost.
- Plan and prepare for mix designs and lead design scheduling efforts.
- Oversees all Material Certification submittals for the Company and outside customers as requested with local help from Technicians
- Responsible for being liaison between the Company and outside testing labs. State Departments of Transportation, appropriate counties and/or cities, and independent labs are included.
- Required to take continuing education courses when available
- Direct employees engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
- Manage and schedule area Quality Control personnel for appropriate coverage.
- Visit projects and engage with customers and crew to ensure we provide quality product and continuously improve.
- Investigates and addresses customer complaints regarding quality to maintain customer relations.
- Participate in industry associations as needed.
- Support hiring, retention, and development of Quality Control technicians.
- Support team in troubleshooting mix issues at plants and in the field.
- Support and lead material research and development, new technologies, and processes.
- Collaborate with sales team to resolve customer and agency issues and to be proactive on projects.
- Responsible for maximizing bonus and reducing/eliminating any quality penalties.
- Collaborate with agencies including DOT, municipalities and other third party assigned by owners to be proactive in producing and resolving any issues that arise.
- Lead Area Quality Control performance and process initiatives including Event Learnings, weekly planning, and other best practices.
- Regular and predictable attendance

Knowledge/Skills/Ability
- ACI Field Testing Technician Level 1 certification.
- ACI Laboratory Testing Technician Level 1 certification.
- ACI Strength Testing certification.
- Proven ability to work with State and municipal agencies
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and allocate resources.
- Written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively implement and utilize process and procedures.
- Knowledge of effective and efficient quality & continuous improvement methods.
- Basic knowledge of company products, policies and procedures.
- Interpersonal & organizational skills.
- Demonstrated successful application of management skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be familiar with local municipality and DOT specifications, such as sampling frequency, sampling methods, graduation requirements, quality requirements, etc.
- Must have a solid understanding of plant practices and quality control procedures.
- Must be skilled in using computer and Excel, Word, CommandQC, Command Batch, and Command Concrete software programs.
- Ability to detect safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret architectural and engineering documents, as well as ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO Standards.
- Successful candidate will be expected to offer guidance to successfully secure a Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL) certification for our OPCO.
Work Requirements
- Travel (40-70%)
- Adheres to and promotes safety requirements, policies, and procedures as outlined in the employee policy manual.
- Must be willing to travel to jobsites and work away from home when required.
- This is a professional position and requires punctuality and being responsible for managing work time.
- Work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors/managers with other duties as required.
- Available to work nights and weekends when necessary.

- Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
- May require sitting for extended periods of time.
- Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to hold weights of 5-10lbs in a stretched arm position for extended periods of time.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. A variety of noise levels, adverse weather conditions, and complex job sites are to be expected daily. Proper clothing, PPE (personal protective equipment), and safety precautions should be taken to ensure your safety, and the safety of others in all conditions. While performing non-field duties of this position, the environment is typical of an office setting and the noise level is usually quiet to moderate .
