Job Title: Mobile Diesel Mechanic- Waco

Position Summary

Under the immediate direction of the Shop Manager, the Diesel Mechanic performs repairs on mobile equipment, including end dump truck, front end loaders, pavers, rollers, material transfer machines, light duty trucks and trailers. Work will be performed in a shop environment with occasional work at plant locations.

Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers.
  • Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
  • Observes and analyze to equipment in operation to determine malfunctions, repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Use diagnostic software to do advanced troubleshooting
  • Reads manuals, uses hand tools, power tools to perform repairs and maintenance to electrical systems, power transmissions, brakes, drivelines and other automotive systems to perform repair work in addition to utilizing the internet effectively for research, evaluation and repair.
  • Must be able to operate all equipment for testing and post repair verification
  • Replaces wear items as required
  • Performs welding, repair and fabrication
  • Assists other mechanics as needed
  • Performs data entry on all services performed using internal CMMS program
  • Delivers technical advice to Truck Drivers and other Mobile Equipment Operators.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
  • Maintains parts inventory and orders of parts and supplies as needed utilizing company provided laptop and cell phone.
  • Demonstrates good knowledge of lock out/tag out procedure required during certain procedures
  • May make service calls at other plants or emergency roadside repairs as needed
  • Assists with training co-workers as needed
  • General clean-up of work areas
  • Follows safety policies and procedures as written
  • Participates in the shop safety program and conduct tailgate safety meeting.
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Driver License and safe driving record
  • Ability to perform tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness


Preferred Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent GED required
  • Minimum 2 years Mobile Equipment Maintenance Experience, Mining experience preferred
  • Trade School or related mechanical / technical certification


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of repair and maintenance of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, transmissions, brakes, drivelines and other automotive systems to perform repair work


Basic welding skills
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • 40 hours per week and overtime on a regular basics
  • Physical Requirements
  • Work requires the ability to lift a maximum 100 lbs
  • Work requires the ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Work requires the ability to operate hand controls with both hands and foot pedals with both feet
  • Work requires the ability to perform sustained overhead reaching
  • Work requires the ability to use vibration tools
  • Work requires the ability to perform work white lying on back for prolonged periods of time and in some cases cramped quarters
  • Work requires the ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels
  • Work is performed 50% outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather and 50% indoors
