Position Overview:

The Clearing and Forestry Foreperson will oversee and direct daily activities and ensure safety and quality in tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate promptly with the Project Superintendent regarding any changes in job site conditions that may require plan adjustments; secure approval before implementing modifications.
  • Ensure proper use, operation, and maintenance of equipment and tools by all team members.
  • Receive and execute daily instructions from the Project Superintendent.
  • Assist in completion of required paperwork on a daily, weekly, and as needed basis.
  • Assist in on-the-job training of crew members.
  • Communicate with construction crew relative to the specific daily responsibilities, including job review, specific expectations, proper conduct, proper attire, and safety.
  • Ensure projects/job sites are operating in a safe manner.
  • Various other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Ability to display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Report to the assigned job site with appropriate personal protective equipment and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills to solve job-related challenges in the absence of a superintendent.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to climb, squat, bend, push, pull and lift.
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed.
  • Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, airborne particles, and loud environments.
