Siouxland Concrete Company, A CRH Company, is based in South Sioux City, Neb., and delivers ready mix concrete and related construction materials throughout the Siouxland region.
Position Overview
The Batch Plant Operator is responsible for controlling production and load out of materials produced in the batch plant, as well as for scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to the plant to perform duties in conjunction with dispatch loading instructions.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Batch concrete loads according to mixed designs and specifications. Reads dispatch orders and understands required needs for production of materials.
- Conduct batching operations in an efficient and safe manner while complying with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct batching functions in a professional manner and ensure compliance with job specifications and all applicable environmental and air quality regulations.
- Must be able to produce on-time & in-spec concrete for the customer. This is a customer focused business.
- Responsible for efficient working conditions of plant equipment. Performs maintenance to batch plant which includes greasing, sweeping, shoveling, performing equipment repairs, cleaning, and removing jam-ups.
- Become proficient in necessary batching, dispatching, & quality control software. Ability to understand appropriate uses of various mix designs.
- Responsible for efficient working conditions of plant equipment.
- Maintain time and material records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- 1-2 years of batching-related experience preferred. Two to three years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a building materials/construction industry preferred.
Work Requirements
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must have and maintain a valid Drivers License.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee and Safety Policy Manuals/Handbooks.
- Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to understand appropriate uses various mix designs.
- Ability to test concrete for conformance with mix design and specification.
- Ability to conduct moisture tests, yield calculation and yield adjustment of mix designs for conformance with mix designs and specifications.
- Follow verbal (in person and over the phone) and written instructions.
- Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.
- Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.
- Demonstrate a strong dedication to meeting the needs and expectations of our internal and external customers.
- Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
- Ability to facilitate change management and influence positive responses.

- Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.
- Able to utilize a computer for batching, email communication and other processing.
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to frequently talk, hear, walk, and sit as well as occasionally required to stand, reach use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to climb ladders and to work at heights as well as work in tight quarters.
