Position Overview
Are you ready to build a strong foundation for your career in construction management? Join CRH as an intern and gain immersive, hands-on experience across our major divisions. This internship offers exposure to every aspect of our Construction and Materials departments-including asphalt, aggregates, and ready mix-giving you a comprehensive understanding of the industry from the ground up.

- Rotate through construction sites, aggregates facilities, asphalt and ready-mix plants to learn the essentials of production and operations.
- Collaborate with teams to estimate and plan plant production requirements and master scheduling processes that balance customer needs and operational capacities.
- Participate in compliance initiatives to ensure our operations meet federal and state regulations (including MSHA and OSHA).
- Get hands-on with equipment maintenance and shop operations, supporting our commitment to safety and reliability.
- Engage in quality control and assurance activities for asphalt, aggregates, and ready-mix materials.
- Understand material specifications and what it takes to deliver products that meet stringent requirements.
- Support our safety goals and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Experience the bidding and execution process of construction projects firsthand.
- Work alongside field crews in heavy construction and paving, learning how team efficiency drives project success.
- Analyze project profitability, exploring the relationship between revenue and costs.
- Learn to price materials accurately and derive quantities from plans for asphalt, aggregates, and ready mix.
- Build strong customer relationships by managing issues and ensuring satisfaction.
- Gain practical knowledge of accounts receivable and billing processes.
Regular, reliable attendance and a willingness to learn and adapt are essential. Additional duties may be assigned as needed, providing even more opportunities for growth.
Who We're Looking For
- Current enrollment in a college degree program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- I am at least 18 years old.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with company policies.
- Team-oriented attitude, ready to support co-workers and supervisors.
- Valid driver's license meeting state requirements (may include CDL, hazmat, or tanker endorsements).
- Flexibility to travel and work nights/weekends as needed.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with OSHA/MSHA regulations.
- Strong drive to achieve organizational goals and uphold high ethical standards.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in fast-paced environments.
- Professional, courteous communication with the public and team members.
- Adaptability under pressure and a proactive, change-driven mindset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of how procurement impacts financial results.
- Ability to use hands/fingers with dexterity, talk, and hear.
- Vision capabilities (with correction) for close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting; occasional climbing, crawling, kneeling, and bending.
- Capable of climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting up to 100 lbs. unassisted.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions and various environments, including areas with fumes, chemicals, moving machinery, and loud noise.
