About The Department

The Global Transport and Customs & Trade Compliance Organization (GTC) is the center of expertise for the global transport and customs network. It sets the strategy, frameworks, guidelines and provides functional expertise in network design across the global supply community and with the logistics community in the regions. It has the responsibility to identify and manage projects that deliver added value to the business in terms of Cost, Performance, Quality, Service, Compliance and Sustainability in relation to Transportation and Customs & Trade Compliance.

The GTC - Trade Compliance & Optimization team provides customs and trade compliance expertise to the regional sites and transport network and drives governance across regions. It translates global compliance and optimization targets into regional framework and guidelines to support operational continuity. This includes standardization of global key tasks (classification, embargo control, automation), implementing periodic controls and coordinating global projects. Its primary goal is securing compliance and monitor governance while also contributing to supply chain optimizations. The Trade Compliance Team is part of the Central Customs & Trade Compliance Team and works in close connection with a.o. functions such as Customs operational leaders, Tax, Finance, Procurement, Regional Logistics, Manufacturing, IT and Customer Service to seek alignment on best practices including data collection and analytics.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an ambitious experienced senior trade compliance & optimization manager, ready for the next step in her/his career, to join the Coty GTC team as Senior Manager Global Trade Compliance & Optimization. The role reports directly to the Global Customs & Trade Compliance director.

In this role you will lead the Global Compliance & Optimization Team (GCO) and ensure compliance with applicable regulation as well as drive global trade compliance and continuous improvement initiatives including standardization and customs automation of central tasks.

The role requires an excellent level of knowledge of both operational and regulatory areas of customs as well as the capacity to conceive, orchestrate and deliver continuous improvement projects. Strategic vision, people management experience, data analytics & visualization, effective communication and problem-solving skills are key.

This role requires interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders (including customs

authorities), most often managing several project parts simultaneously. You will be working very closely with the Global customs & trade compliance community and centralized customs & trade compliance capabilities (including global customs and trade compliance system).

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of a customs and trade compliance specialists.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international trade laws and regulations.
  • Align and coordinate customs & trade compliance projects with GTC global strategy.
  • Provide business intelligence (KPIs & reporting) on customs and trade compliance on a global scale.
  • Monitor and cascade applicable customs regulatory changes.
  • Own and maintain the trade management IT system.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for simplification of customs processes and duty management optimization.
  • Coordinate external audits by authorities globally
  • Standardize and simplify critical work processes, tools and KPIs
  • Manage internal escalations and customs & trade compliance related crises, providing solutions and prompt communications to the stakeholders
  • Monitor financial results to determine if they are in line with AOP for Customs globally.
  • Manage and analyze large amounts of data mainly coming from Brokers/4PL/internal reporting tools and utilize the information to act upon accordingly as needed to ensure smooth flow of Coty products.
  • Maintain applicable customs licenses including AEO.
  • Manage relationships with customs authorities.
  • Own customs & trade compliance framework including SOPs.

What You'll Bring

Key requirements:

  • Required educational background: B.Sc. (advanced degree an advantage) in International Trade, Economics, Law, Business, Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimal 10 years of relevant working experience (preferable in multinational company).
  • Experience with global trade management systems is a plus.
  • Experience to work in matrix organization (FMCG experience is an advantage) with an excellent understanding of Customs and its connection with supply chain in a broader perspective (from sourcing to delivering).
  • Strong analytical, innovation and fact-based problem-solving skills with end-to-end mindset.
  • Ability to lead a team in alignment with company's strategy and goals.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may not be in direct control of this role.
  • Ability to visualize her/his thoughts in an adequate way (enabling her/him to bring message across to Senior Management audience - Executive reporting).
  • Hands-on attitude, willingness to access new challenges, and openness to changes in priorities.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a wide range of projects simultaneously.
  • Flexible working style; can easily work with individuals from all backgrounds and cultures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, another language is a plus.
