We are seeking a strong Data Engineering Manager who will work closely with Product and Marketing stakeholders, Data Scientists, Analytics, and Software Engineers to support product launches and roadmaps. This role will lead a group of Data Engineers responsible for building data platforms that power business strategies and innovation at Core Digital Media with trustworthy and smart insights. All team members participate and contribute to developing, managing, and supporting data pipelines, data warehouses, data integrations, and analytical solutions.

This role will be a hands-on position in addition to mentoring Data Engineers to implement appropriate architecture and scalable data solutions. The leader in this role will work with the Head of Data Engineering and Data Architecture to formulate data strategy and is required to be onsite two days a week. 

Responsibilities

  • Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers, Software Engineers, and PMOs to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.
  • Work with Architects on designing, developing, and implementing data solutions using open source, cloud-native technology stack.
  • Capacity planning, process redesign, and re-engineering of complex integration solutions.
  • Conduct Code reviews, troubleshoot issues related to data pipelines, infrastructure, and data quality.
  • Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines, and data processing systems.
  • Develop strategic plans and ensures tactical execution of these plans.
  • Responsible for maintaining best practices and data model standards defined by Architects and launching data pipelines in production.
  • Continually enhance delivery pipeline through automation and efficient test coverage, optimizing time-to-market and quality.
  • Champion innovation in the team through continuous learning and building prototyping complex, cross-platform business solutions.
  • Contribute to Data Engineering Road map and maintain Data Tech Stack to the industry standard.
  • Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas.
  • Define and manage prioritization for the team.
  • Define and manage SLAs for all data and processes running in production.
  • Collaborate with the stakeholders to define and analyze user stories tracked in Jira.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and changes to support data quality and data governance.
  • Define and Manage workload through Jira and project prioritization.
  • Conduct performance reviews ,mentor and Support team members in their career development .

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in building and sustaining data solutions
  • 3 years of experience in a management or leadership role , overseeing a team of direct reports
  • Strong programming skills in Python (ETL tools- Pandas/NumPy, Python unit testing etc.).
  • Solid experience with data integration toolsets such as Airflow and maintaining Data pipeline orchestration
  • Strong in Data Modeling techniques and Data Warehousing standard methodologies and practices
  • Technical expertise in building reliable data ETL/ELT processes, query optimization, and dynamic SQL.
  • Hands-on Experience with cloud database technologies such as Snowflake and Big Query.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies like AWS.
  • Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity and experience in building and consuming APIs (REST, API Gateway, etc.)
  • Strong testing and version control methodology.
  • Must have strong problem-solving, analytical, and in-depth research skills.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners, both orally and in writing.
  • Commitment to working in a hybrid environment which requires 3 days per week in our Los Angeles office.
