Summary:
A Registered Nurse skilled to deliver individualized nursing care to patients/families according to their identified needs. The nursing care is based on the nursing process and augments the medical plan of treatment appropriate to the Specialty Clinic.
Expected Care: Comfortable organizing patient and family care within a multidisciplinary clinic.
• ur program extends from hyper acute to long term care coordination. Knowledgeable about pediatric stroke (hemorrhagic and ischemic), atherosclerosis, vasculopathy, inherited disorders, and rare diseases as they relate to neurodegeneration. Clinical management of stroke and thrombosis patients including but not limited to triaging, implementation of BE FAST, understanding s/s of DVT/PE, surgical planning, and supervision of anticoagulation medications. Ability to triage and assist with new stroke and thrombosis referrals. Coordinate with referring provider when necessary
Patient Population: General hematology in addition to all things thrombosis including pulmonary embolisms, deep vein thrombosis, thoracic outlet syndrome, May Thurner syndrome, antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, general thrombophilia, stroke, and complex cardiac kids
Education:
- Graduate of accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of one year pediatric nursing experience preferred.
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Certification/Licensure:

- Current permit or license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Will obtain advanced life support certification within two years from their date of hire/transfer date.
- • ther certification may be required by department.
- Valid Driver's License required
Preferred Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology Experience or Pediatric Neurology
