Summary:

The Guest Relations Specialist is responsible for providing a welcoming presence and excellent service to patients, families, visitors, and staff through the information we impart and the personal attention we give each guest. When we are at our best, everyone at Cook Children's feels like family. In this role, you are likely to be the first impression of Cook Children's. Patients and families are often scared, uncertain and confused when they enter. In demonstrating through your words, actions, and body language, you ensure to them that they are in great hands and have come to the best place to care for their child. You will quickly establish a welcoming rapport and make a difference in families' day and healthcare journey. The Patient/Family/Member Experience teams' mission is to give voice to what patients, families, and members see, advocate for how experiences affect well-being, provide support and emotional safety, and elevate people, processes, and technology. The Guest Relations Specialist will demonstrate a commitment to Cook Children's Health Care System operating values by integrating them into each job function. You must have compassion and empathy for others, embrace teamwork to achieve more, think beyond what's possible, give what you can in time, spirit, and resources, treat others how you want to be treated, and ensure safety first every time. This position will also assist the Patient Experience Manager with the organization of parent events and patient programming.

Hours: 20 hours per week. Rotating/Revolving Schedule, Weekends and Holidays on a rotating basis.

Required Education, Experience & Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience professional work experience required; health care setting preferred.
  • Collaborative work ethic, independent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, positive and professional demeanor with high integrity and ethics are all qualities necessary to be successful in this position.
  • Being Flexible and Available to meet the needs of the department by working additional shifts, including evenings, holidays, and weekend shifts as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish (preferred).
