Summary:

This position will support and assist in coordination of physician-led quality improvement projects related to Maintenance of Certification, US News and World Report, Leapfrog and other organizational priorities. In addition, this position will work to support the delivery of high-quality care through collaboration with healthcare teams and department leaders throughout Cook Childrens Health Care System. This will be done in collaboration with IT, the specific specialty groups and the Division of Quality and Safety. The Clinical Quality Improvement Coordinator II will oversee project submission and clarification of those QI projects submitted through Cook Childrens Part 4 MOC Portfolio Program. This position will work closely with the Quality Performance coordinator, who will oversee the non-clinical aspects of our Part 4 MOC Program. This positions responsibilities will include identifying opportunities for QI projects within US News and World report, communicating with physicians regarding projects, assisting with the creation of Part 4 MOC QI Projects, in addition to data collection and data visualization. As part of our efforts to support physician QI work, this person may support, facilitate and or lead internal and external multidisciplinary improvement projects which may include auditing and data collection. This position will support or may lead the operations of these projects, support the education of staff and serve as subject matter expert regarding safety and improvement science. This person will also assist with US News and World Report and Leapfrog survey efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing with minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Current Texas Nursing license required.
  • Must have understanding of Quality Improvement methodology and be knowledgeable in data collection and analysis.
  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient in data collection and analysis.
  • Must be proficient in the use of word processing applications, spreadsheet programs, database applications, and the use of web-based technology to conduct research, i.e. literature and evidence-based searches.
  • Must be proficient and competent in the use of Epic EHR, in particular the reporting tools.
  • Must have oral and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to work with all members of the health care team to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing healthcare environment and requirements. Must demonstrate facilitation and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary groups.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions appropriately using job knowledge and current policies/procedures.
  • Flexible/adaptable with the ability to work with diverse groups of people and in many different situations.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Green belt lean certification must be secured within 2 years of employment.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) must be secured within 2 years of employment
